He's a freaking brainless loser. The two guys ahead of him draw patient walks and he swings at the first freaking pitch.  Bull crap.

Even better, trade his ass. He is so freaking inconsistent it's ridiculous. Some nights he'll have good ABs and get some hits and then other nights he just completely checks out like tonight.  You just do not swing at the first pitch in that situation.

Oh well.. that was a great game. Not much more you can ask for from the pitching staff, we just need some offense!

FLOP WASTES DUKES INCREDIBLE 9TH INNING!!!

DUKES SINGLE HANDEDLY STARTED A 2 OUT RALLY!

most impressive walk i have ever witnessed. i praise his phenomenal plate patience and excellent eye!  :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: then he tops it off with a furious bat flip!

then dukes SWIFTLY steals 2nd!

then dukes FEARLESSLY steals third!

then flop weakly grounds out on the FIRST FREAKING pitch!

The "funny" part that got lost in all of this is that since it wasn't a save op, the booth can continue touting Rauch's consecutive saves streak.

This was the assumed outcome, I think. I didn't see the game, but the box score shows pretty much what I expected. Winning series is what we need to do, and we've given ourselves that chance. Big game tomorrow.

We should have already won the series and going for the series sweep tomorrow. You should win every single time when you hold the opponent to 1 run, especially when you are at home, regardless of the opposing starter.

Now we have to rely on Matt Chico just to take 2 of 3.  He'll have to be perfect just like the rest of our pitchers for us to win.  Old Man Moyer should have no problems buzzing through our AA lineup.

He does deserve some praise for his 12-inning scoreless streak, though. That was huge.

Just got back from the game...GOD DAMNIT our offensive is blowing chunks this year.

Bergmann did an amazing job...too bad he had no support - Cole Hamels notwithstanding.

i'm still in awe of dukes 9th inning walk. he resisted some very tempting pitches. then stole two bases with what i like to call, effortless ease.

Quote from Bergmann after his gem:

Quote
Bergmann said he's been working hard to improve since being sent down. He struck out five and walked three in his seven-inning effort.

"All my credit today goes to Jesus Flores and the defense," Bergmann said. "That guy's really turned into some heck of a catcher. I trust him with every pitch. He's really maturing and becoming a great Major League catcher."

I attended this game and had an uneasy feeling about it right from the start. Even though Bergmann was pitching a great game, I just had a feeling that the game wasn't going to go the Nats' way.

Damn, I hate it when I'm right about this sort of thing.  :(
