We're making this chump look decent. We let him off the hook in the 1st inning with horrible base running.

I sure hope the Nats don't waste money on Jones... Sign a less expensive CF and use the saved money to bring in some pitching

Laughs... I want to thank 2k6nats for removing my thread and putting his own in place of mine. I will remain undefeated, while he'll get another loss...

Ouch, that hurt.

And the Nationals prove they can't hit Carlyle once again.

ya, you're one of the many naysayers. I however am one of the few that hope A.J. is a Nat in 08.

Batista is worthless. I rather bring up Broadway and let him play then see another batista bat. He never comes thru for us when we need it

Bacsik would still be in AAA if it were not for 4 of 5 starters going on the DL.  3 homers in one game, with 2 to the same player, is kind of what you can expect.  1 strikeout, 8 hits 5 ER, at least he only had 1 walk.  He needed to come out in the 5th, when he got in trouble.  Thank the laud for fantasy baseball, to divert attention from a discouraging game like this.  We should be hitting their weak pitcher...

Nationals 1
Braves 5

I agree with Ken, I don't want Andruw Jones; he'll cost WAY too much, he's too old and his plunging BA reflects declining skills with age.  The 2009 Free Agent class is a lot better.

Well, IF we lose this game we will be one loss away from tying our worst under .500 record of the season (14 games).

That's OK, you're certainly allowed to hope for any player to join the Nats in '08, but you'll have to excuse me if I want this team to have a top 10 pitching team, instead of a top of the lower third in offense team. For a spec more than what Jones is going to cost, this team can have a pretty impressive pitching staff. Pitching and defense wins championships, not hitting.

The thing that's most inexplicable about this team this year is that it doesn't pounce on terrible pitchers.  Despite the fact that they've won far more games than many "experts" had predicted, how badly this team performs against pitchers like Buddy Carlyle, will be what I look back and find the most disappointing.

Waits for the Nats to be labeled "worst record in baseball" instead of just "lowly".

The Royals are gaining on us

Instead of signing Jones, I want the Nats to chase Mark Buehrle and/or Carlos Zambrano and spend less on a Torri Hunter or Aaron Rowand to play CF. Then in 2009 the Nats can go after one or more of guys like, Carl Crawford, Mark Teixeira, Johan Santana, C.C. Sabathia, Jake Peavy, Brad Penny, Jon Garland or maybe even Francisco Rodriguez... :D

See the prob with pitching is they only help u 1 out of 5 games, AJ will help us 162.

Also i think next yr Hill and Berg will have earned themselves "ace" status, and than we can bring Livo back to DC to add some veteran experience. Balester can be our 4th starter and whoever for the 5th.

That's YTD; I think it was .067 when the Braves traded him to OAK and we got him after 2 games.  But since joining the Nationals, through tonight's 4 ABs, Langerhans has:
85 AB, 20 hits, 16 walks, 13 RBIs, 3 HRs, .235 BA, .423 OBP (one of the highest on the team)

Given the choice of signing either Jones after this year, or Santana after next, the choice is easy for me.  We saw what Soriano and his 45 HR's did for the Nats last season, nothing, they were still dead last in most offensive categories. Sign some solid pitching for 2007 and then sign a couple of bats in 2009. Forget about Andruw Jones and Scott Boras, as they try to bleed someone for a $20 million dollar contract.
