One person here has a clue, the other doesn't. There's no way Werth is happy dogging it on a team on the edge of contention where he could be the hero.

So what's your explanation?

At this point, if Lannan makes it through 4.2 I will be surprised (and pleased).  I don't care what his pitch count is.

Four pitch walk to the #9 hitter.  Not an auspicious sign!

He can't handle the pressure. He wouldn't be having tantrums if he didn't care.

:lmao: Looks like your avatar is very vexed over this matter.

Wow, Lannan is really being bailed out by the defense tonight - aside from Laynyce Nyix.

There's a lot more pressure playing for $126M than for arbitration $.  He's supposed to be a star here, he was simply one of many good players in Philly, and wasn't overpaid in Philly.

So what's your explanation?

Who knows?  But outside of rare exceptions (like the Ramirezes Hanley and Manny) no major league player is ever 'dogging' it, especially one in a slump, doubly especially one who just signed a massive contract with a lot of concomitant pressue, and trebly especially one like Werth with a well-documented history of hustling and busting his ass.

Werth is doing poorly, that is beyond dispute.  But the reasons for it have nothing to do with a lack of desire or complacency on his part.

I think he means the pressure of being paid so highly and having to be one of the best (top 2) position players.

He won't be long for this game. The only reason the score isn't lopsided right now is pure luck and that he hasn't walked anybody yet.

JINX. But thrown out trying to steal 2B.

So...we're stuck with this Werth, is what you're saying???  Because none of the reasons why he's "pressured" are going to change.
