They're getting too much contact against John.  This isn't going to end well.

His interviews are AWFUL

He does seem to mumble.  I wonder if that's just how he normally talks aka "with the guys" or if he's just camera-shy.

Thing I like most about Espinosa is his clutchness.  Dude is hitting over .300 with RISP.

But clutch hitting is an illusion.

I wonder what his stats are after the 7th inning?

Correct.  I don't expect him to continue to exhibit much of an RISP split going forward.  But that's fine with me.

Ugh... Lannan doesn't have the stuff to get a K here, which is what he desperately needs.

How about a double play?  I'd settle for that.

EDIT: I'll also take another IFFY flyball out.  But eeeeeegads.

How can you say clutch hitting is an illusion?

I don't think clutch hitting is an illusion, but I do think a clutch hitting skill is mostly an illusion at the major league level.  Which is to say, if it exists, it's really insignificant.

Because statistically speaking it has been definitively shown to be an illusion?  That's how.  It's not a repeatable skill.  It's just luck.

This isn't a disputed matter anymore.

Not disputed among people who have actually studied it mathematically... I mean, I suppose you can find people who will dispute evolution, too.

He won't be long for this game. The only reason the score isn't lopsided right now is pure luck and that he hasn't walked anybody yet.
