Carol- I'd love to go to the Kennedy Center to see Les Miz with Mom. Have you scoped out prices and availaility yet?

The movie is also coming out the end of December. Hail Jean Valjean!!

The nice thing about the Kennedy Center is that they typically rent out to local groups using local actors - as opposed to Fords which is pretty much a road-house now.

Oops my bad- Les Miz will be at the National Theater 12/13-12/30/2012 (not at the Kennedy Center).    :-[
Prices seem to start at $89.

OLNEY THEATRE CENTER - Special Event

National Players Tour 65 presents

Thursday-Sunday July 18 – 21, 2013 at 8:00 PM
  • On the Root Family Stage
(adjacent to the back parking lot)

FREE Shakespeare Under The Stars!
(will move inside to the Historic Stage, if weather precludes outside performance.)

There are 3 sets of metal bleachers that seat 150, about 40 feet from the stage.  Much of the audience brings beach chairs or blankets and sits on the grass in front of the bleachers, in front of the elevated grass stage. They actually start after 10 minutes of announcements.
NO reservation or ticket needed! BOX OFFICE 301-924-3400.

The Comedy of Errors: Take one set of identical twins separated since birth, add a second set as their servants, and throw them all into the same town for a single day. Confusion abounds and hilarity ensues as everyone in the town tries to figure out why these people are behaving so strangely today. (“Although ‘Comedy’ is Shakespeare’s shortest play, we did a little bit of trimming here and there, to take the intermission out, to make it a one-act 90-minute event.”)

Olney Theatre Center 2001 Olney Sandy Spring Rd  Olney, MD 20832
Located on Maryland Route 108 (Olney-Sandy Spring Road) in Olney, Maryland, one and one-half miles east of Georgia Avenue (Route 97) and two miles west of New Hampshire Avenue (Route 650). Parking is FREE!

National Players is America's longest running touring company, in its 65th year.  The actors performing as identical twins typifies the "humor in casting" of this troupe - a black woman and a white man, (but they are dressed in identical costumes):

      Antonia LaChé                Adam Turck
Dromio of Syracuse       Dromio of Ephesus

In rehearsal for Comedy of Errors are (from left)
Theresa Buechler, Eliza Rose, Antonia LaChé, and
Danny Cackley. The National Players will present
the show at the Olney Theatre Center.

Apologies to any fans out there, but I'm really starting to think that Tom Stoppard is the most overrated playwright in the history of English-language theatre, and Tony Kushner is running a close second.

Stoppard's style was great in his early years.  He needs reinvention.

Not theatre, but I have an audition for "The Wrong Stuff" - a film based on the Bill Lee story.  They're looking for actors who can play baseball and are around the age of 40.
