Cincinnati, OH -- (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Reds optioned former closer Todd Coffey to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday, and recalled right-hander Gary Majewski.
Coffey shared closer duties for the Reds last season, and posted eight saves and a 3.58 earned run average. He failed to convert either of his save opportunities this season, however, and has a 4.94 ERA in 26 games.
Majewski had a 1-1 record with a 4.50 ERA in 15 relief appearances for Louisville this season. Late last season Majewski was on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his right shoulder, and spent the early part of spring training strengthening that shoulder.
