When did the O's game end this morning? 4, 5 a.m.?

At 03.54 ET this morning - actually listened to most of it (although, quite apart from the ultimately disappointing result, I was getting tired of ads every half-inning for heart/kidney transplants at University of Maryland Medical Centre).

Wow, I'm honestly shocked Dylan Bundy is getting the call. A gutsy, gutsy move. Hope he doesn't get lit up.

I like the way Rick Peterson has brought him along. They were planning on him throwing in instructs so they aren't pushing his work load.

I hope he does get lit up.

I'd pitch him tonight. Safeco & Mariners are the best possible debut.

I don't have anything against Bundy, I just can't stand the O's.

The Brewers now have the same record as the Dodgers. They are now 2 games back of St. Louis in their improbable quest.

He'd run away with the Cy Young if he had been a starter all year.  freak THE BRAVES

I think a nice consolation prize will be that he'll be available to them for the playoffs.

He'll get his first loss in the wildcard game.

Pirates down to flat 74-74 following yesterday's loss to the Brewers...in today's series finale (first pitch 16.05) they have to face Mike Fiers, the Brewers' late-blooming pitching sensation (only one to beat the Nats in the series we played at Milwaukee earlier this year).

Their remaining four series start relatively soft (Astros and Mets away) but end tough (Reds and Braves home)...a 20th straight losing season is still within reach.

UPDATE: Now 74-75 for first time since May.

This kind of jumped out at me: since installing Yasmani Grandal at catcher, the Padres are 44-28.

Cardinals leading Cubs 4-2, bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, 2 strikes, runner on....Darwin Barney goes yard.  Game tied.

When Darwin Barney homers, does the organist at Wrigley play, "I love you, you love me . . .?"

Also, aren't those two strange concepts to combine in a name, survival of the fittest and a dinosaur?

16th straight win in extra-inning games.  That's quite a feat.

White sox expected to part ways with Jake Peavy after this season, buying out his option.  he would make a nice 1 season replacement for E-Jax wouldn't he?

Why would he agree to a one year deal?

Not picking up an option and parting ways are not the same thing.  The option is for 22M for one year -- the buyout is for 4M.  If Peavy is happy with the situation in Chicago (and if they manage to do well in the post season, the happiness factor deepens) then he could potentially negotiate a new deal with the White Sox.  Its not THAT far fetched.
