they already got LaRoche. no need for Johnson.

True. Forgot about that.

Marlins and the Tigers are the only other teams I can think of that might want him.

Nats should have dealt him weeks ago when his value was still high and teams (Boston and SF) still needed a 1B-man.

oh well, let's pray we get a draft pick for him.

Yeah, heaven forbid we keep a quality major league player instead of trading him for Theo Epstein's earwax.  :?

No way on the Tigers as they have Cabrera at 1B and Guillen locked in at DH for awhile.  The Marlins have Cantu, but I guess that one is possible.  I still think Texas is by far the most likely at this point.  I've read they want a right handed hitter at 1B though.

Guillen can play in left, too.

I've read Guillen is only a DH for awhile as he has a bad shoulder and can't throw or bat from the right side.

this "quality major league player" will be gone after this year and if we end up getting nothing for him and he signs elsewhere we would have made a big mistake in not trading him.

I bet spidernat would love to do that  ;)

As long as it's the current chick (I once was forced to sport a Debbi Taylor avatar) in my avatar I would most definitely love that.

good luck to Bally tonight. have a feeling he is going to need it. tough start against an angry team with a couple of premium bats in a hitters park.

There is no excuse for our offense not to score at least 10 tonight. Villanueva stunk as a starter and hasn't been any good as a reliever.

His July numbers (while pitching in the bullpen): 8.1 IP 13 H 10 ER 3 HR 5 BB 4 K (0-3, 10.80 ERA, 2.16 WHIP)

Why would they sit him and not play him? Even if there is a deal in place he can still play..

Not if the deals done he can't he'd no longer be a Nat, he wouldn't be able to play for us.  Once it's official, that's it.

why the hell not? Villanueva is awful and they used a slew of relievers last night. We should score 6-7 off of Villanueva and a few more off their pen.

mediocrity is not acceptable. No excuse not to pile up the runs. No letdowns like Sunday when Chad Gaudin owned us a day after we scored a boat load of runs.

4 in a row tonite! Come on Balester! If he gets the run support early he should be just fine. He is totally a different pitcher from last year. His over 700 career minor league innings have turned him from just a thrower into a pitcher.

I hope he can go deep tonight.  It's too bad his last start got cut short because of the weather.

DT: "What was it like growing up in Wisconsin, in the midwest?"  Can she possibly be worse! It's already been a bad broadcast.  :bang:
