It's not enough.  They should have offered at least $25 million.

Why should he get double what Price and Prior got?

Strasburg isn't like Crow I don't think. I believe he will sign here for around $15 Million.

Who, that would draft him, would pay him that much money next year? Padres? Royals? Pirates?

No one. That's the marketplace.

It's not enough.  They should have offered at least $25 million.

good job alGO, hopefully he's coming around.

dibs is not a fan of strasburg/boras whatsoever.
i bet he'll jump on board quick when SS is up here striking out 10 batters a start i.e. Tim Lincecum.

25 million? Does anyone actually think he had a chance of getting that? I doubt Boras even thought that.

I get what Rob and Bob are saying but you still must sign this player.

If SS turns down $15 million that would be freaked up though.

yeah.

look we get it ... the guy is going to get a lot of money, it's unfair.  but hey our team lost 102 freakin games last year and we're on our way to losing another 100 this year.  you can't sit there and say we're building our future through draft picks ... and not sign your top pick in back-to-back years.  if they give him a "fair" offer and he says no, then you question his fire and desire to play.  but if it's just a smidget over $10.5 million that prior got, he won't sign here and imo that's on us.

I hope that "half a player" pitcher finds Dibble after the game and kicks the crap out of him. Stupid-ass comment.

Agreed. $10.6M seven years after Prior would be sort of insulting. $15 is plenty, though.
yeah.

I think $15 million from $10.5 million is a "smidget".  Remember those are nominal dollars not real dollars.

The economy is actually worse now than it was back then.

I agree with Bob that Crow not signing was a blessing in disguise.

We got a guy in Storen who wants to play for the Nats and who is moving quickly through the system.

if only ESPN liked us and we could spin it and make it look as if Strasburg is the bad guy if we don't sign.  i don't think he'll want that.

I think we all agree that there's a number that's not enough over $10.5, and there's a number that is.

The economy is actually worse now than it was back then.

I don't know. If the offer is in the neighborhood of $15 million and he doesn't sign I believe that Strasburg will get ripped by many in the media for turning that much down.

if i was strasburg's dad, i'd be furious if my son didn't sign. he'd have passed up 10+ millon dollars to HOPE he stays healthy, gets drafted #1 overall or #2 overall next year, and HOPE another team will give you that. so dumb.
