That still doesn't make it easy. As a matter of mindfact, there should be an even greater bias in favor of left handed pitchers for the Cy Young because they face, overwhelmingly, right handed batters.
But there's a bias in favor of lefties in terms of who makes the major leagues to start with. About 15% of people are left-handed, which means that in the MLB there should be about 22 left-handed starting pitchers in any given season. The fact that there are many, many more is evidence that, if you are a LHP, you are more likely to crack the majors.
So why should LHPs get affirmative action on Cy Young Awards if it's easier for them to qualify in the first place?
