The United were lucky to get a win tonight, a complete lack of hustle on loose balls, but what a final goal, awesome game.

Really good atmosphere at the game.  Great turnout by the fans and it was a blast.

Wow, playoffs...time to repay Chicago for that dagger of a game back in '07 when Gomito's goal was called a handball.  Well, I suppose it was, but I don't care...if Les Bleus get those calls, so should we.

Sure would be nice to get that #1 seed, give us the inside track to the finals.

19,647 in the house that night - just like old times. This also marks the first time ever that DC has had four professional teams make the playoffs in the same year (United along with the Capitals, DC United Women and of course the Nats).

[Almost bought a ticket to that one myself - I haven't been back since my last STH season in 2010, and remembering the area's worst stadium security staff reminded me of one reason why.]

I didn't even know that people cared about soccer... Well, good luck United I reckon.

Soccer Bowl II was one of the last times RFK was the bouncing, roaring RFK...with seats behind one endzone, it might have set an attendance record. Great fun. We had seats on the rail in LF, just above Screaming Eagles and Barra Brava. Took a little sighting and adjusting, but I was able to show my son where homeplate was supposed to be, and the dugouts. Pointed to the exit above where Frank Howard hit a homer that would have been about 500 feet without a stadium in the way.

Already had baseball-in-DC in my head.

There were some capacity crowds at RFK for the '92 World Cup and '96 Olympics.

Is anyone here going to the playoff game? I'll be there.

Probably, depends on the date and time. I wonder if they will open up the 400 level. Kind of funny seeing a sell out with 20K empty seats.

So how much did the city care back in 2004 when they won? How was the media coverage?

Pravda (Soccer Insider) and the Bog covered it and not much else.

There was a great crowd there in 1992 or 1993 for a US v. Ireland game as well. The US won, which helped.

As far as the playoff game, depends on when it is and the ticket prices. I'll opt for the section where people know not to say "the United."

How are ticket sales? How much are they? Will it be possible for casual fans to attend?

I'd be careful rooting against the United at RFK, some New York fans tried that a few years back and got bloodied up real good, I also saw a bunch of Fire supporters get a full soda dumped on them by some guys up in the Mezzanine. Unlike most of our local sports fans, the United's fans don't play.

I don't know who "the United" are. I may be going to RFK to root for United depending on when the game is and how much tickets cost.

When was this?

Back when Red Bull first bought the team, they bused in a bunch of their fans and it got ugly. One of their blogs has a bunch of pictures, I think I posted them on WNFF a couple years ago.
