________________________________________________

Bacsik will face the Braves for the second time in his career. He pitched two innings without yielding a run. On Wednesday, Bacsik kept the Nats in the game over the first five innings, giving up three runs on six hits against the Tigers. When he left the game, the two teams were locked in a 3-3 tie. But the bullpen blew the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.

On Wednesday against the Red Sox, Carlyle was roughed for the first time since his big-league debut on May 26. He gave up a leadoff home run to J.D. Drew, and things only got worse from there. He lasted 3 2/3 innings -- his shortest start this season -- and allowed seven runs on nine hits, including three home runs, which matched his previous season total. Carlyle was hurt by leaving his offspeed pitches up in the strike zone, a problem that allowed Coco Crisp to touch him for a three-run homer in a five-run first inning. Since a one-hit outing against Florida on June 5, Carlyle has allowed 22 hits in 16 innings over his past three starts.

Gee, why am I not surprised that the thread I started was deleted.

I guess 2k6nats has no clue when it comes to reading sarcasm in a private message...

We have to 'find' a way to score at least 5 runs off Carlyle.

This is ridiculous.... That ball was hit hard. It wasn't even close. He had no chance to score. Why would he send Lopez on that play when we had bases loaded with one out.

what a f***ing joke.. this team can't do anything right  :hang: Only the Nats can get 3 hits in an inning and only send 4 batters to the plate without scoring a run.

I'm pissed off. And people wonder why we get angry and go on rants about the crap this team does.

He's got good speed and should have made the play much closer..  He looked confused when he got close to the plate.  Maybe Tolman should have just held him up

Or everyone could have just advanced one base, to load them with one out.

No doubt. That was the right thing to do but we'll have to see whether Tolman actually sent him or he did it on his own. Either way someone has to have a talking to over that gaff.

Carlyle struck out one batter then gave up 3 hits and is credited with a scoreless frame.

He stinks.  I would have trusted anybody in the lineup to get a hit.

For the Nationals, the best place to have Carlyle is on the mound.  Instead we give him two easy outs.
