I played youth baseball vs Marrero and I totally forgot we had him. Probably says alot.
IDK, he was hurt last year and we saw Moore break out a bit.  I think it says more about Moore than it does Marrero.

Rank the divisions (ESPN):

3  National League East
It was almost impossible to separate the NL East from the AL West. But here's what the data told us:

           Projected division record: 399-411, .493 (4th)
           Projected record vs. non-division opponents: 209-221, .486 (4th)
Projected 90-win teams: two (Nationals, Braves)
Projected .500 or better teams: three (Nationals, Braves, Phillies)
           Vegas rank: 2nd
           Payroll rank: 4th
           Power ranking: 3rd
           Poll ranking: 3rd

Once again, to make a case that the NL East is one of the best divisions in baseball, you have to ignore the projected-record data, because this division is split into two distinct tiers. And at the bottom, Szymborski estimates the Marlins have a 36 percent chance to lose 100 games, while the Mets have a 34 percent shot at it. So they're the gravitational force tugging the rest of the division back to the pack.

But back at the top, the Vegas odds (as supplied by Bovada Sports) peg this as the only division with three of the 11 best bets to win the World Series (Washington at No. 3, Atlanta tied at No. 6, Philadelphia at No. 11). And Szymborski projects there's a decent chance that the Nationals and Braves could each win 100 games, with the Nationals on track to win more games than any team in either league.

"If you're going by depth of the entire division, I guess you'd have to take the AL East No. 1," said one of the NL execs quoted earlier. "But if you go by quality, you should go NL East. Washington and Atlanta are better than any of those [AL East] teams."

Dave Cameron says acquring Denard Span was the best transaction of the offseason (so far):
Quote from: Dave Cameron
1. The Nationals acquire Denard Span from Minnesota.

Denard Span is a +3 win player, maybe even a bit better than that if you put more weight on his offensive resurgence after recovering from concussion-related issues. He’s under team control for his age 29-31 seasons for a grand total of $21 million. And, yet, the Nationals were still able to acquire him for the cost of one A-Ball pitching prospect who may or may not be able to stick in the rotation long term. When you look at what other +3 win outfielders were signing for this winter, or what other above average players with multiple years of team control were commanding in trades, Span looks like an outright theft by the Nationals. Let’s put it in this context – the Nationals gave up about the same value in terms of prospects to acquire three years of Span as they received when they shipped off one year of Michael Morse, the guy who Span pushed out of the line-up to begin with. Washington got a better outfielder with two extra years of team control and didn’t really sacrifice much from their farm system to make the upgrade. In a winter where guys like Shane Victorino were signing for 3/39, giving up one low-level prospect for Span stands out as the best deal anyone made all off-season.

The closer we get to the season he more I think we're going to be extremely badass.

I am not sure if we'll break 100 wins since the season is a long grind, but I think we may overwhelm people in the playoffs.

I thought, with the way Cameron dumps all over Morse, he would have included us dealing away Morse and getting a decent prospect back on his list of best moves.

Desmond is #1 SS Right Now, on Larry Bowa's list.  #8 on the Shredder list.  He didn't make Bill James' list at all.

#1 is a little high, even though the was the best SS in baseball last year.  The shredder and James aren't going to have him higher until he proves he isn't a one year wonder and can have some sustained success.

I'd probably put Tulo #1 (even after his injury) then some combo of Jeter, Andrus, Desmond, and Reyes.  I say Desmond is top 5 minimum.

CSN Washington reports RZ is "fully rehabbed" from shoulder surgery and will enter ST at 100%.

Let's hope that's true.  If we get 150 games or so out of RZ this year, with the numbers he put up 2nd half last year, we should be in pretty good shape.

If he did that he might be the MVP.
I'd take .320/.380/.565 40 HR 120 RBI

That puts him in the triple crown run.  Just stay healthy.

In 1957, outfielder Glen Gorbous participated in a throwing contest and threw a baseball 445 feet.
In 2012, Bryce Harper's longest home run was 444 feet.

JZ says the Nats are closer to a 1 year deal with him, per Kolko on twitter.  Hearing is 2/19 if necessary.  No long-term extension talks.
