I hope this isn't going to be the tone of this entire day. There's a certain team visiting Verizon tonight, and I really don't want to see a crapshow like this Arsenal/Monaco crap. Especially not in person.
It's gone too good against the Pens this year.  It can't last.
After all this is Washington DC.

I know Fox already paid for a couple world cups, but I still feel like Rupert and friends plus the Europeans have seven years to put together their own tournament with a giant payout to the winner.

Get Vince McMahon to help out

MLS reached a deal.

Meanwhile, ugly showing by United tonight, whereas Montreal knocked off Pachuca on away goals in a shocking finish at Stade Olympique.

Did they dump that 28 with 8 years of service clause?

I haven't read anything about it, just heard during the game and on Twitter that they had a deal.

Sounds like FA is given for players who are 28 with 8 years experience. The players apparently are not happy with their leadership, they really didn't get much.

That's what was hanging them up yesterday.    I can't believe they caved on that.   There was a comment on NBCSN yesterday about a player one of the teams was going to sign who is 15.    Commented about him having to play 13 years to be able to change teams on his own.   Then they got into the fact that the "owners" don't want to bid against each other so they wanted this extended, basically reserve clause.     Don't the players have to approve the contract.

Found this at ESPN:

I suppose they should change the name from the Premiere League to the Fairly Good League after the Champions League results this year.

If you don't want to play in mls there are other options. I don't really know what the players leverage is. At that level of professional soccer, you are easily replaceable. I don't think there will be any star player 23 year olds just waiting for free agency. They'll just go to Europe.

Good point Dave.   If they're very good at 20, they're gone before the 8 years kicks in.   This contract allows the MLS to be an economically stabile mediocre product.

Isn't the biggish money for the teams selling players they develop?

I agree. MLS is just a retirement league  :mg:
