Last night we tried out the raclette maker. We used machego cheese and put it over baby white potatoes, dill gherkins, pickled pearl onions, and crispy bacon. (Damn ghetto safeway didn't have fontina or gruyere.)

It was full of cheesy awesomeness.

Is the Safeway across the street from the Ontario Theater still there?

Yep, that's the one. They renovated it and it's still a dump. But it's a block away, and now they sell booze, so....

I don't know what half of those things are, but it does sound delicious.

We have the one with the little pans you put under the grill to melt the cheese.

took today off. I have half cooked meatballs and polenta in the fridge. I'm going to drop the ball in some tomato sauce and fry off the polenta- definitely looking forward to dinner

I prefer the lazy method - prefried, just nuke it to re-heat

Fried cheese part of the trad breakfast in Costa Rica. Usually it's served with blackbean rice, eggs and your choice of sauces. I love how it can get that crispy outside crust.

The raclette grill is nice because you can use different kinds of cheese if you want.

Real Frostburg bologna can only be found here:

When I wasn't getting licked by puppies this weekend, I found time to stop by and pick up 2 lbs each of regular and "hot".

Yeah, Terpfan, I was thinking about you as I climbed Sidling Hill barely able to maintain 60.

Well, I wasn't in my new car, I was in the family Pilot loaded down with skis, coolers, sleeping bags, people and other logistical support items related to sustaining a Girl Scout winter sports expedition to western Md.  The brief side trip to B&B Meats was for me.   :)

You sound like my dad.  Every time he's in DC he finds a way for us to end up at Ben's Chili Bowl so he can get a pink lemonade.

Dammit, for some reason I'm really craving fruit, but as far as I know, there is nothing in season right now.

"fresh" whole wheat sub roll with ham, lettuce, onions.  Pretty good lunch.  Maybe even gives a Big Az Chicken sammich a run for it's money.
