________________________________________________

Lopez didn't get a decision in the Rockies' 2-1 loss to the Brewers last Saturday, though he gave up just one hit -- Corey Hart's homer that barely cleared the wall in left -- over seven innings. Lopez established the fastball early, then kept hitters off-balance by mixing it with his cutter and slider.

Bacsik pitched one of his best games of the season on Monday, yielding two runs (one earned) on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings against the Astros. It helped that he threw a lot of first-pitch strikes.

ugh.. In each of the first three games of this series we have started a slow throwing lefty.  Eventually the Rockies are going to catch on and pile up some runs.

Our pitching has been surprisingly great in the first 2 games (7 runs given up in 2 games).  The Rockies like to play 10-8, 9-7 slugfests so we have done a good job of controlling the pace of play.  For us to be successful we have to keep the scores under 5.  It would be nice for the offense to wake up sooner or later though.  Rodrigo Lopez who is starting for Colorado today is the perfect pitcher to do that against.

How crappy.  The game isn't on MASN (and thus not on MLB Extra Innings), and Fox is showing the Mets game here.  I think I'll go back to reading Harry Potter.

Bacsik is falling behind too much.  He's asking for trouble.

Does Lopez ever get to any ball not hit directly to him when he plays SS?

I'm not.  I'm following the game on gameday at mlb.com.

You don't need to see the game to know that a 9-pitch inning followed by a 6-pitch inning is UGLY!

Lopez is throwing (or getting called) nothing but first-pitch strikes.
