_______________________________________ ________________

In his last start, Perez found himself in trouble from the beginning. In the
first, Brian Barton led off with a double and Rick Ankiel followed with a
two-run homer. By the time he left the game, Perez gave up five runs in
four-plus innings and threw 103 pitches. He had problems throwing his
fastball for strikes. It didn't help that Perez was pitching with a blister on
the middle finger of his left hand. He had the blister since Opening Night
against the Braves. Perez is hoping the fingernail grows so he won't put
any more pressure on the blister. Perez didn't use the blister as an excuse
for his struggles on the mound. He gave the Cardinals credit for scoring runs.

Effective in his last start, Hendrickson tossed 5 1/3 innings, giving up three
runs (one earned) on five hits in a win over the Pirates. He struck out four
and exited after 88 pitches. Hendrickson has worked at least five innings in
both of his starts, and he has shown composure as he works toward battling
deeper into games. In his career, Hendrickson has faced the Nationals five
times, and he's 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA
against them.

I wonder why Hermida is out again? He seemed fine yesterday. I guess they're doing a 4 OF rotation or something. They do have 4 pretty solid options.

It doesn't take much of a blister to really mess you up.  Here's hoping that the blister was the cause of the odiferous past outing, and that it's starting to callous up.

I would think that 2 days without throwing would work. I'm not sure that he's taken any days off, though.

odalis...don't be worthless.

our offense is going to have to step up bigtime to overcome our pitching.

At least Mike Jacobs is pretty bad against lefties.

Please don't let Hendrickson dominate us like he did in ST.

Hudson's the only one to really worry about there. Go back a few years and I'd be scared. :D

poor, poor, poor pitch.  Why in the freak did Lo Duca call for an inside fastball?  He (Uggla) just showed you on the 0-1 pitch that he can't hit offspeed pitches.

ugh. the Marlins are jumping all over Perez's pitches early.  even Hanley jumped on the first two pitches before making an out.

That was NOT on Lo Duca. He picked the right spot where the pitch should have been.

Why call for a fastball at all? Uggla has shown all series that he can't hit offspeed/breaking pitches.  You can say that for pretty much their entire roster. Look at Hermida.

But it should have missed the plate. That's the point. Make him swing at a ball.

you can't blame the catcher if the Pitcher misses his pitch/spot.
