Bill Bryson is one of my favorite authors, and one of my most important influences as a writer. Before moving to London, I read his genius book on England (Notes from a Small Island - if you haven't read it, it's worth buying just to see why Mrs Gubbins kicks him out of a bed and breakfast) and took detailed notes!

I'll have to check it out! I am loving A Walk in the Woods so far.

Love the outdoor adventure books, Outside Magazine is my primary source for recommendations.

This is a great read, quite riveting, about a highly experienced rock-climber who makes a nearly fatal error in what should have been a low risk endeavor.  He survives, albeit leaving his arm behind, to write the book.

Hey Tom-

I'm going to go see the movie version tomorrow, directed by the Slumdog Millionaire guy (Danny Boyle) and starring James Franco. It's a private advance screening which I'm absurdly lucky to be attending and Boyle and Franco will be there for a Q&A. Though we've not seen the film of course, got any questions?

Knowing Franco, don't we already know the answer to that question?

I know what it is, but I haven't read the series since book one. I have enough waiting to do with the Song of Ice and Fire series. :|

I don't know Franco.  Has he been to one of the WNFF tailgates?

The Prime Minister of India in the 70s drank his own piss on a daily basis.  I think Newt Gingrich does too.

Didn't know Newt had ever been to India.

Even dumb professors have lots of Indian grad students.  I guess here they gather around and take the piss just like at Oxford, but perhaps a WEE bit more literal, like

Didn't know Newt had ever been to India.

Great book.  The Wastelands and Wizard And Glass are two of the best fiction books ever written.

for those who are fans of The Walking Dead on AMC, you should know that the show is an adaptation of the Comic Book series.

I haven't read it cause Zombies aren't my bag, but if you like the show but haven't read the comics yet, you should.

also, if you have seen V For Vendetta, Watchmen, 300, and Wanted, but haven't read those graphic novels, go do so right now.

and then be just as pissed as I am about the POS movie adaptation of Wanted.

these are the primary Manga that i read:

One Piece
Fairy Tail
Soul Eater
Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

I read those four on Mangastream.  When Onemanga shut down their Manga-Hosting, I switched to Mangastream.

But Mangastream only hosts the 5 most recent chapters, if you want to read the whole series (which is advisable in most cases), you'll have to do it on a different site, like Mangashare or Mangareader

I am starting to get into some others too. I read a few volumes of Berserk and I am going to pick that back up as well as beginning to read Shaman King.  Berserk is really bloody and violent, not at all for kids or teens. very adult-focused.
still looking for some other Manga and Graphic novels to read.

Speaking of Graphic Novels - both Ex Machina and Queen&Country are excellent Comic series that have been collected in Graphic Novel format.

What format are they?  I wonder if you could convert for Kindle.

Ex Machina is one of my favorite reads of the last 5 years.  Absolutely a fantastic story.
