This seems like just a move for the sake of making a move. Cabrera is a poor man's Ian Desmond. Swings a ton but has less pop, and is not as good defensively. Walters did really well in the few opportunities he was given.

I feel like it's the opposite.  It's a minor deal, but one that makes a lot of sense because they needed to do something about Espinosa.

Speaking of KID - they traded their top IF prospect for a rental middle IF ahead of Desmond's walk year.  If you want to read that far into it you could take it as a positive sign for a Desmond extension.

Somebody (Zuck?) tweeted a while ago that the Nats almost got a LHRP today but when Souza's name was brought up they backed off.

I heard that and I was wondering if it was Andrew Miller.

We gave up nothing and got a marginal improvement over Espinosa. We may actually have a decent second base platoon

You like this trade or not depending on whether you think Zack Walters will ever amount to anything.  I don't, so I like the trade.

But if Walters ever becomes a legitimate MLB player, it wasn't worth it, because we really didn't get much.

Hard to get excited over Asdrubal Cabrera, but he's certainly better than Danny Espinosa

I feel like I would trade Souza for Miller in a heartbeat.
