There have been at least 5 pitches right down the middle that have been called balls for Marquis so far.

Marquis takes way too long to throw pitches on the mound.

Some veteran he is :hang:

In my defense, I didn't see there was no thread until the third batter of the first inning. I hope my future chances of a Gameday thread aren't hurt by this showing. It was my first time and we don't all lose our virginity in the best of circumstances.

Not only am I losing my virginity in unexpected style, but I am losing it to an ugly chick with crabs. crap. Late start, Alberto Gonzalez leading off, Jason Marquis pitching, guys erroring in a run...

Worst first start ever?

yep. Where is the veteran and reliable starter that we paid for in Marquis? He can't throw strikes, has no composure. 20+ ERA this year for the Nats. Stolen money.
I hope he shows up today. Just not for the Dodgers!

This is the kind of situation he melted down in earlier in the season. Injury aside. He has to keep his head in the game.

I blame Nieves for calling an awful game.

Marquis must still be "injured".  :lmao:

We're going to need a lot from the bullpen today. I just hope the offense doesn't get dejected and just gives up.

Marquis got lit up like this in an AAA start a week or so ago. Awful. Couldn't even get an out in the first inning.

They should have sent him DOWN, not up.

Jageler just now: the last 16 batters to go up against Marquis have all gotten on base.

You know they will. Rolling over after the SP gives up a few runs early is vintage Nationals.

The guy is a veteran on a losing team playing meaningless games. No excuse for him to stress and lose composure. He has to take a page from the Livo handbook and execute, get out of the inning and come back strong. Otherwise, he is showing nothing.
