Capernick may turn bust, but wilson looks like a slightly shorter RG3 to me, and I'd rather shorter (RG3 isn't exactly towering either) plus a legitimate RT or corner or safety, or all of the above by the time we start getting first round picks back

Maybe, and that goes back to what you and Knorr were talking about. Actually having seen all of them play this year would certainly change people's opinions... but before the draft RGIII was the obvious choice and completely worth the trade since there wasn't much of a selection to begin with and that QB was our most pressing need.

I would agree that Wilson plus the picks we got rid of would be nice but I think RGIII was worth it and that such a trade should be made again in the future, even with this injury.

before the draft, it was the obvious choice, but before the season people were picking the Eagles to win the division- should Reid get an extension? Shanahan gets paid a lot of money to be in charge of personel- I don't think it's unfair to judge his decisions based on hindsight

So, you'd advocate trading the most prized future possession you have (first and second round draft picks) for a guy that's on his second knee surgery, is undersized to take the punishment he took this season (unlike a beast like Cam Newton), and isn't likely to turn out to be a pocket passer?

By beast I mean a much larger guy that can physically take the pain of collisions (read: not scrawny dudes like Cutler, Vick, RG3).

Wilson reminds me of an athletic Drew Brees. Not RGIII or Kap.

Yes. Yes I would. Plus, we're 8 months away from the first game that matters in the 2013-2014 season. I'll hold my panic attacks until then. As of right now, we have a QB who's injured and is just starting his rehab. His career has just begun. I'll wait until an official news story comes out and says "RGIII is royally freaked for life!" to start saying that RGIII's pick was a waste.

Before the draft it was the obvious choice. Throughout the season up until the final game, it was the obvious choice. He got injured. It happens.

The Eagles may have been "the obvious choice" to win the NFC East... but in no way were they playing up to their hype that the media created for them. RGIII was.

RGIII played up to the Hype, but Wilson was nearly as good (it took him longer to acclimate) and definitely with in three first round picks of Griffen- maybe griffen pulls away in the long run, but right now, the trade looks like another redskins over pay (only difference is under Shanahan the team over pays with draft picks- McNabb, Brown now RG3- instead of money)

I agree with this. It was an obvious overpay and it will definitely hurt the team development. I just can't hate on the trade because at the time, we needed a franchise QB. And we got one with RGIII. There was no way in hell we'd pick Wilson. And I stick by the deal in the first place because this season, aside from the injury, proved that RGIII was every bit worth it. I think he'll stay consistent year after year. It's upsetting with this injury, though, but again, I'll wait until something drastic happens before I start talking about the possibilities.

It is going to hurt knowing that we won't have that first round pick to pick up a corner, safety, lineman, and so on... but maybe something become available... whether that's through trading or the free agency is the question. Or if anything will happen at all.

if the Skins overpaid, it was for the sure thing.  That's not an overpay IMHO.

Two things you should never trust - a thin chef and a QB from the Big 12.

But RGIII put up fantastic numbers in the league.

Sure, he also got injured multiple times, the last time requiring reconstructive knee surgery.  The Big 12 is a no defense conference.

Okay. But he still put up a hell of a lot of numbers. Anyone from any conference can get injured.

No doubt. He had a great, great season, definitely made a believe out of any doubters. But let's be honest, he's a smaller guy that took a ton of hard, punishing hits that he probably didn't need to take. Worst case scenario this was his best year and he struggles with injuries, best case he makes some changes and saves his body the punishment he took this year and stays an elite talent.

Well yeah, he'll probably have to change up his play at some point. I wonder if he will himself whenever he comes back. I mean, I'd like to think that if an injury similar to that ever happened, I'd be afraid to experience it again.

But getting injured doesn't really relate to being from the Big 12.

No, but my point is the defenses in the Big 12 don't compare to the NFL both in terms of speed and, more importantly, size. I see RG3 having the same injury issues that Vick had if he keeps playing balls out and letting defense dish out of punishment to him.

He's a young guy and he'll rebound from this injury pretty quick. I just hope he can realize he's not invincible before he gets seriously injured.  Javhid Best should serve as a warning for anyone that thinks otherwise.

Griffin will give up the option run stuff. Count his interceptions and then those of Patrick Ramsey. Common sense says that he becomes more of a scrambler, more of a Staubach or Tarkenton, using his speed and moves to avoid being clobbered. He has the best arm of any Redskins QB since Sonny, and Sonny was the best passer in modern football...that's pretty good.

Boswell seems right:

Bears pick Trestman - http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000127052/article/marc-trestman-to-be-next-chicago-bears-coach

As this board's CFL "expert", I can say he's a good coach.  I posted here that the Redskins should have hired him after they fired Zorn a few years ago.  The Alouettes are getting old now and have been passed by the Argonauts in the Eastern Division so it figures that this would be the time he comes back to the NFL.
