The only kind of RF you can get for Brian Bruney is Brandon Watson or Nook Logan

For what it's worth, DT just asked Rizzo if this report was true, and Rizzo gave a "no comment" response.

Rizzo's response was pretty much confirming it.  He said something along the lines of, nothings official until we announce it.  That's as good as a confirmation to me.

I think people shouldn't have high expectations for Storen right out the gate.

He hasn't exactly lit the world on fire in AAA.

As for the "Super 2" clock, it is 125 days, June to end of season, plus 15 if he is up on 5/17. That' 140.  Some years, that will not quite make super 2 status, others, like last year, it does.  The sly thing about promoting him before Strasburg is that Storen would be one of the guys to make it before Jesus.

So what is his nickname - Drew the Baptist?

He's only had 6.2 IP so it's too small a sample size to make any assumptions on.  That being said, he's only given up 1 ER and 2 BB.  Also, if you look at his splits, all his trouble has come against lefties.

Light the world on fire?  We don't need him to!  Just having a reliable arm in the BP will be enough.

I swear if Storen replaces anyone besides Bruney, I quit.

well not really, but you understand the sentiment, right?

The Nationals are expected to purchase the contract of right-hander Drew Storen, according to a baseball source.

...

It's unknown who Storen will replace on the 25-man roster, but manager Jim Riggleman said Saturday that the team is thinking about taking Bruney off of the roster.

Expected to replace Bruney.

I hand it to the Nats. They want to win and this gives us our best chance.

I'm absolutely ecstatic.  They are risking his super two status to win ... great move by rizzo mafia/lerners/etc.  this allows him to experience a winning atmosphere and ease into a relief role in the bigs.

 go get 'em drew storen

welcome do DC future closer

Took long enough. Can't wait to see Storen in the 7th inning...8th if Clippard continues like this too

that's one hell of a freaking improvement with just one move.

Mike Rizzo for President.

The timing of the move could cost the Nationals financially. Although the deadline has not yet been established, Storen will likely become a Super Two player and reach arbitration and free agency a year early. But the difference for a reliever is nearly negligible, especially compared to a starting pitcher or elite position player.

Storen will become the eighth player drafted by the Nationals/Expos franchise to appear in a game this season. The ninth is not far behind.
