Pitchers tend to not have their stuff working about 1 out of every 4 or 5 appearances. Lannan can be very effective when he has his stuff, but he is not yet one of those guys that can find ways to pitch effectively even without his best stuff. I hope he bounces back and works the zone better and stays ahead of hitters. He relies alot on the defense, so they need to be on tonight to make sure he doesn't have long innings early. I'd like to see some economical pitching and Lannan to stay in the game for at least 6 innings. The pen needs a rest.

Since Tavarez didn't get hardly any work last night, he could go a few innings if needed, I would think.

But the point still stands. I'd like to see Lannan go six or seven and give our offense the chance to leave 16 guys on base and not regret it as badly.

Yes, it is still early, and they aren't gasses yet. But it would be good if we could get through this game without having to use half the bullpen. The more of these guys who can have a night off the better. Joel will likely be used regardless.

Willingham should be out there tonight he's only started one game all season.

The Nationals should win a game sometime. They haven't won one all season.

I was just going to say the same thing. It's insane he hasn't gotten more playing time or been dealt. He has got to be eating himself up knowing he was better than anyone on this team last year that lost 102 games and he is riding pine. With Dukes nursing the groin, he should get time. But they need the lefty bats in the lineup. Too bad Manny won't consider a Dunn, Kearns, Willingham outfield.

Zimmerman has four doubles (all four of his hits) already. Second in the majors.

Looking at career stats at Turner field why not play Harris,Milledge & Dunn left to right. Start Gonzalez at second.

I wouldn't start Lastings in left because he hasn't played there in over a year.

He's like Jack Cust with less power and less walks. Actually, Richie Sexson did this last year. Ugh. So RZ is now RS.

puzzles me too. I don't get why Manny won't give him any starts at 2B. He's 1/1 with an RBI Double and a Walk in 2 plate appearances this year.

Did Gonzalez get any time at second during ST?

Harris over Gonzalez?

I assume Manny wants to start off with as many lefties as possible.

Who cares?  He's a defensive natural.

Gonzalez after a game at second with three errors:

"I had a really bad game.  What can I say?  I've been a defensive specialist at middle infield throughout my career - I even played well there last year.  I just forgot how to field the position some time recently.  All of the infield drills during practice didn't even help."

Nice firefly quote.

It's my favorite. I think Firefly was a great show. too bad it cost so much to produce.
