Man, these last two mornings have brought the usual winter suspects to the feeding stations in the back yard.

I was pretty sure he/she is a hawk...

Gotta keep the chihuahua's off the deck when these cats are around...but speaking of cats, our cat Spooky has attacked hawks before.  He is one bad mama-jama...

That may be why you have the new neighbor.

Could be...but I think he/she senses the chipmunks under the lower deck...and the smaller birds that flock here...

It's understandable.    You think Brady's a good QB.

We had a coopers hawk dismantle a pigeon behind the house the other day.  Maybe I'll upload the video if I ever find the iPhone charger

That little beauty is a Sharp Shinned Hawk.

This right here is the most common owl in the Mid-Atlantic, the barred owl. Barred owls are very curious. If you hear them, and mimic them, even poorly, they will often fly towards you to investigate.

Technically, birds *are* dinosaurs. The closest living relative to the T Rex is a chicken.

Somewhat on topic, a friend of mind was hunting in a tree blind early one morning a few years back. All of the sudden, something hits the side of his head and sent his had flying. Felt like getting hit with a pillow he said. Turns out an owl saw the whites of his eyes and swooped in for a kill, realized it wasn't prey at the last minute and hit him with a wing as it turned to a new vector.

Surprised it didn't go in for the kill just for the hell of it. Birds of prey are bad ass.
