This loss would be a disaster that we will not recover from.

Are people figuring out that the way to get past Cordero's fastball is basically to hit it over the fence?

Game over.

Season over.

Good night all.

woah, buddy, calm down! But you know if we do lose this game, this will be the BIGGEST LOSS not only in the history of the Nationals but the ENTIRE SEASON! if we lose, do you guys know how badly the media would tear us apart

They'll run it alongside the catastrophic Marlins collapse and it'll be a side-story for the evening sportscenter :?

I just took a sleeping pill.  If the game ends before it puts me under, great!  If I go under before the game goes off, I'll check it in the morning because I really shouldn't be up that late anyway.

Well, that sucked.

I know it's the wrong time to say this, but I'm not worried.  I have faith...

From ESPN.com:

SvOp    Save opportunities. When a pitcher 1) enters the game with a lead of three or fewer runs and pitches at least one inning, 2) enters the game with the potential tying run on base, at bat, or on deck, or 3) pitches three or more innings with a lead and is credited with a save by the official scorer

The momentum and advantage is to the home team during extra innings.  That doesn't even bring into the fact that the Padres are pumped...and the Nats are demoralized right now.

Plus who comes in to close the game if we go ahead?  Majewski's been used already...stay with Cordero?

Also: I didn't see the sense of putting Bergmann in! So that's another thing, but hey, hindsight is 20-20, huh?

You know if we lose this game, I'm not really worried about the team's morale as I am about Cordero's. Imagine how he'll feel if we lose

The Capitals preseason game was also 2-1 going into late in the third period.  The 'Canes scored and tied it up 2-2, then scored in overtime to win it.  'Twas a heartbreaker.

Now there's the Nats game, where we were up 5-0 going into the bottom of the ninth.  They scored five runs and tied it up, then went into extra innings.

If this is a heartbreaker as well, that's about seven hours of radio I've listened to tonight just to cry at the end.  I could listen to the Hollies' Would You Believe? a whole fourteen times in that stretch.

Woe is me.
