And Capps. OK, so the Nats have got three dependable relief pitchers: Burnett, Clippard, and Capps. That's better than having none, and only a year ago...
I have no doubt in my mind that Storen is going to be incredible. He has the stuff, but he also has the right mentality.

IMO this win makes up for the loss we handed Livo for a 2-run 8-inning game against Colorado.

Right, kind of equaled the baseball karma.  However, we'll have to hear how bad Livan is based on his peripherals.

Smoke and mirrors are underrated, anyway.

Dear Mike Rizzo,

You seem to be a competent G.M.  You're a fair, even-handed guy.  You're at least better than that Bowden guy.

With all of this said, you seem to be the last person to realize that half of your bullpen sucks.  These guys are just abject losers.

So could you please call up Erik Arnesen, Drew Storen, and Doug Slaten?  They should replace Miguel Batista, Tyler Walker, and Brian Bruney.

I would appreciate this ever so much and will probably be more likely to attend games out of lack of fear.

Yours in Strasburg,
KFYM

Leave Storen where he is until all the arb clock stuff is in the clear.  Bring English up right now and DFA Bruney.  Figure out which of the remaining relievers at AAA best fits the bullpen needs.  Slaten, Brown, Peralta, Wilkie, Kown whatever, bring one of them up for Batista and be done with him.  Walker as the long/mop-up man is fine.  Replace two spots with guys who might actually do something when given a chance.

it's a shame Heyward is probably going to run away with ROTY, because Ian Desmond is a helluva ballplayer.

It's not really close as to who the better player is.

I find it shocking that AZ is not lusting off Heyward since he fits the lust profile.

That 1.038 OPS is pretty freaking amazing.  I'm wondering when/if people are able to adjust to him.

With this win, the Nationals will now make it to at least 6th May without being swept in a series...continuing their deepest such penetration into a season since the move.

Something to build on, I would say.

FYI, we've got the 10th best record in baseball right now and 1.5 games out of the Wild Card...

Bernadina's diving catch was just name the premiere play of the day on MLB Quick Pitch.

There were a lot of fantastic catches too.  That was probably the strongest bunch I've seen all year.  Oddly enough, Dan Uggla had a really terrific catch.

Did he mean to catch it or did it end up in his glove somehow?

I don't have a good feeling about the next two games but I have to say I am having tons of fun this season. I actually engaged in trash talk last night and sent a text to my friend informing him not to mess with the Hammer after the homer he hit.
