Someone called Clippard's emotion swagger and that he hoped he never stops doing it. Which is fine by me. I accept the fact that players are all different and they have different ways of expressing their emotions while some don't show it at all. But that also is true for players on other teams. Phillips is probably an emotional guy and he was pumped up after that play. I don't think he's an jerk for it. And I doubt I would've plunked him. I can't be angry with someone because he beats me on the field fairly. I guess that's why some people hate certain teams (because they own us on the field). Having said that, the Nats decided to plunk him and I'm OK with that too. I would rather we take it out on them on the field but it seems we couldn't do that tonight.

I agree. This issue should be closed as far as play on the field is concerned.

Serious what would MLB do if every Nat came out to a different Joe West song tomorrow?

No need for that.  Everyone knew what was happening, no need to escalate it further, it should be done now.

I'm just saying how I would approach it. I can't allow someone to plunk me intentionally over the fact that I expressed myself in whatever way I feel comfortable (not that I ever engaged in that sort of display personally I just don't have an issue when others do it). I would've taken issue with that. This could go on endlessly until people just learn to take their ass whoopings.

I wonder if he'd feel bad if he knocked Nieves unconscious?

I have no doubt that he would feel bad about it. The man is playing the game. Just because he shows his emotions differently than others doesn't mean he is a piece of crap.

I honestly haven't noticed Clippard's so-called "swagger" - perhaps I'm just unobservant.  Regardless, if other teams players or fans were offended by that, I would understand.  That said, a pitcher celebrating after he wrings someone up is quite a different matter than a guy doing his best impersonation of King Kong after he just plowed through someone.  This is baseball, not football.

No one's mad that he made the play, quit pretending to be a dumbass.

Joe's arm only goes up to chicken wing eating height to eject people.

Pushing Desmond was not right. Running into him, fine, but he pushed him to be a twerp.

No one's mad that he made the play,

Again, what doesn't impact the score directly does NOT concern me one bit so his celebration would not have caused me to plunk him. Therefore, from my point of view he did nothing to warrant plunking him.

My way of getting them back would be to win the game/s. I have no reason to doubt that some of you would've felt the exact same way had the Nats been winning. I don't think my post indicated otherwise so

Dinner. Joe West ate it all, then played steel guitar.

The Nationals would have to pay him royalties.

Each Nationals player could bring money to the plate, and pay him directly.

I think the Nationals may have taken some offense to running over Nieves, our backup catcher, when are second backup just went on the DL, and we just brought someone up from the minors.

Sure man, shovel it any way you like.  Considering you readily admit at pretty much every opportunity to having absolutely zero self-restraint in such matters, I find it extremely hard to believe you actually buy what you're selling in that post

Pretty flat Saturday overall...Nats lose, Mystics lose in OT...only bright spot was United salvaging a point in the league tables by battling defending MLS Cup champs Real Salt Lake to a scoreless draw.

Nats better win the rubber match tomorrow.

Getting excited is one thing.  Standing at the plate and beating your chest is something completely different.  Anyone that has played baseball at any advanced level would take issue with what Phillips did.  Glad Batista him in in the hip and give Phillips credit for just taking his base.
