It does seem strange that they assume we extended Span in order to bench Werth, while also assuming Brian Goodwin is good enough to play everyday.
Yeah, that is a bizarre conclusion. I also think it's weird of them to assume Lucas Giolito will be a #2 starter, full-time, after just two years of playing in our system (after losing 2013 to TJ). That's a Strasburg-esque rate of development.

Wow, Lucas a number 2 by 2016?
he's that good.he was regarded as extremely polished for a high school arm while still having tremendous upside. According to BA, he has the best fastball and curveball in the system.

against what competition? the cupboard is bare right now
That means he will go from Rookie A ball to MLB in two seasons. I don't think he's that good.
Just got back stateside a few days ago, going to be a few weeks before I have anything substantial to post. A lot of guys took some big steps this year though, still loving the depth of the system. Man, I missed this place.
I think the lineup that Baseball America posted for 2016 could very close to what we actually see takes the field then with a few minor changes. I don't think Span will be extended and Goodwin will play CF, I think the only big move would be eating a ton of money trading Werth to an AL team as a high OBP and high average player and Tyler Moore is still around. I think Zimmermann and Detwiler both sign team friendly extensions (not likely) and Giolito is the 5th starter. So it will look like this barring any trades (besides Werth) or FA signings.CF Brian Goodwin3B Anthony Rendon1B Ryan ZimmermanRF Bryce HarperSS Ian DesmondLF Tyler Moore2B Danny EspinosaC Wilson RamosP Stephen StrasburgP Gio GonzalezP Jordan ZimmermannP Ross DetwilerP Lucas GiolitoCL Drew StorenA completely homegrown team from either trading prospects or bringing them up that hopefully has won 2-3 world series by then. Offseason Dreams... It will at least be my team in MLB the show 2013 in the 2016 season

Jesus, that's scary.
i don't think we would have won the NL East with that lineup.
Oh Esmailyn Gonzalez .... I remember that name ...
