Dave B is correct. They did pack the honies behind the dish tonight. They must be paying them because they're all sticking around until the end.
Nah, they heard Hanley signed a $70 m contract today.

Don is actually bragging that Kearns & Johnson are still in the dugout.

That is pathetic.

Sarcasm.  I just remember how much Bowden was hyping all his acquistions.

If we don't sign at least one difference-maker this offseason, I'm really going to start questioning the commitment to building a winning team.  With all the money they're raking in this year, there is absolutely no excuse for our payroll not to go up another 10-15 million next year.

One difference maker pitcher and one difference maker hitter, at least.

The honeys behind the plate are all with the fish. It's the only reason that we 1)have that many of those seats occupied and 2)still have all them still watching the game.

THis will be the 5th time we've been shut out in only 37 games.   At this rate, we will get shut out > 20 times.

In case you hadn't noticed, the Padres suck as bad as the Nats, so I don't think I would be touting that performance as evidence that it is acceptable that we should be getting shut out by this guy.  My point is that we rarely make a starting pitcher pitch even his average game; they almost always pitch better than their career average.

The Marlins have done the same thing 23 or 24 games this year, having starters pitch better than their ERA against the fish.  Last night was the first time since the opening series that the fish have scored more runs than they've allowed.  It's an all or nothing offense.  In the 29 games that they haven't scored 10+, they've averaged 3.8 R/Game.  But Wiley has really gotten the rotation humming and throwing strikes, and the pitching is winning the games over the past couple weeks.  What he's done with Miller over the last few weeks is unfrigginbelievable.

The team ERA for May, coming into tonight, is 3.13.  The pitching was supposed to be the achilles for the fish, but Wiley has everyone smirking and wondering if this is for real.

Rauch should just eat the rest of our pitchers for energy and pitch 9 for us every 3rd day.

In the first 29 games this year, the Nationals only made the starting pitcher pitch up to or worse than his career ERA 6 times.  The other 23 times, the starter pitched better than his career ERA.  I stopped tracking it about a week ago because it was making me sick.
