This may be a dumb question, but why did Gorzelanny not start in the first 7 games? He's part of the 5 man rotation, no?

they only needed for starters because of the way the early schedule had built in off days.

i also think hairston will start cf today - not ankiel.

I missed reading anything about this:

Quote
Look for Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos to see a majority of the action behind the plate going forward. Ivan Rodriguez will serve as his backup, the club said Friday.

Pudge is clearly done. He can't hit or run.

But at least he's having fun.

While I'm as much in the tank for Morse as anyone, I'm wondering if the Nix pinch running is the start of a potential Left/right platoon out in left.

The images would have to be shrunk.

 I'm happy to have Flores and Norris playing everyday. The only one being held back is Ivany, or Maldonado.

We should have kept Bernie up if they were going with a platoon.

About time on Pudge, he's a better backup than Will Nieves, but more for his game calling/defensive skills.

pretty interesting lineup.  weird that riggles is sticking with ankiel against the lefty.  but he has been swinging a good bat, so maybe he knows what he's doing.

really need to get morse back on track.  hopefully facing a mediocre lefty will do it.

Anyone got the Mets lineup yet? Updated to reflect the changes from yesterday's roster for the Nats.

He's swinging a hot stick, but we don't have much in the way of righties to plug in there other than Hairston.  And it sounds like LaRoche felt the shoulder "flare up" in Florida, so we'll probably see him get periodical rests like this or perhaps a 15 day DL visit...

if that's the case, it's time to call up marrero.
