Good. Walters is not good enough to be a backup.

Taylor isn't ready. He'd be worse than Espinosa. Souza on the other hand is raking.

That's not quite the endorsement a player covets.

I'd give Walters the benefit of the doubt.  I feel like people here want Tyler Moore to keep getting playing time because he sucks as a pure bench player and I think the same should be extended to Zach.  See what he does in AAA for now.  If he is just a backup guy, then the Nats need to get a 2B and Aaron Hill could make some sense.

Tyler Moore has shown some ability as a regular player and performed better in Triple A than Walters. Walters has Danny Espinosa level of strikeouts but a terrible glove. He shouldn't be on the roster.

SSS for Walters.  I think he should be in AAA for the season and at least be a September call up.  He needs to work on things, but I think he will ultimately be of more value than Espinosa.  I don't see Tyler Moore as a regular player.  Just as Bernadina showed previously, he is a player who is not an everyday guy, and if Moore isn't good enough off the bench than what use does he have?

He's so much worse than Espinosa it's scary. Higher K rates, lower walk rates, lower average, much less speed,  no glove.

I dont think Moore has any use anymore.  Souza or GTFO.

So who is out of here on Tuesday to make room for Zim?

Moore? Treinen will be starting for Gio so he stays.. Can Dobbs be sent down?

No. He would have to accept a minor league assignment.

Moore makes the most sense unless they release Dobbs.  Basically, you would be back to the opening day set of position players except for Harper.  dobbs has played a lot of 3d in his career, with 100 games as recently as 2011, so i think he gives a bit more position flexibility than Moore. That,  and he bats lefty, so your bench would be McLouth / dobbs as lefties and Hairston / Frandsen as righty bats.  Moore gets to play everyday in AAA until the next injury.

Realistically, who could the Nationals pursue to improve the offense? We can't have Espinosa getting regular at bats anymore, and Rendon's glove/arm are needed at 3rd since Zim's shoulder is shot.

Dobbs was inked to a minor league deal, IIRC...

I think we are stuck with Espinosa until Harper returns in mid / late July. Zimmerman in left until then, and we tolerate Espinosa's hitting the way we used to tolerate Eddie Brinkman -- couldn't hit, but a great SS.

At least it will be seven hitters plus Espinosa and the pitcher.

agreed, there's really no good spot for Moore here.

Maybe Tony Renda could speed his development up a bit?

FWIW, Will Rhymes at Syracuse: .316   .363   .247  That's light years ahead of Danny.

Are there are any middle infielders potentially available at the trade deadline who might make sense?
