Rangers just lost two starting pitchers. You guys want to get that slugging first baseman we've always dreamed about?

No, PECOTA is projecting WARP, and FRAA is a component of WARP, per the Simmons comments.

Here's another discussion as to how Billy Hamilton's PECOTA projected WARP is, like Simmons, driven by defense.

Gotta be careful, Blue's itching to uncork a junk punch on someone and best not to rile him too much.

I still don't think it incorporates defense. I'll check with BP on June 21st, when they're in town.

Okay, so, Zim and/or LaRoche should be back before then.

Wish I had more confidence in them coming back. I don't think ALR will be healed in 15 days. And Zim is . . . zim. Injury to his hand plus his already fickle health . . .  meh

My hunch: roughly July 1 for Harper, if we are lucky. Maybe mid-June for Zimmerman and LaRoche. So...about a month before reinforcements arrive. Hope for no injuries to Werth, Rendon, Ramos, Desmond.

At least Fister pitched his last game like the Fister we expected.

ALR was a tight quad, right?  That I think is likely better with rest and he'll be back in the minimum amount of DL time.

ALR should be back before the end of the month.  Hopefully Zimm shortly thereafter.

Gio went to the trainer after his start. Said he couldn't find his arm slot.

Saw tonight on ESPN that Gio is 0-5 with a 5.56 ERA in his last 5 starts, something is wrong.

I'm concerned too, but that stat can't be right as Gio has a 3-4 record this season.

I thought maybe they meant the team was 0-5 during that span, but that's not true either. So I don't know what they mean.

Not buying into the injury concern angle though yet. His stuff looks (to me) like it always does, "effectively wild". Except people are hitting it well. He's probably just going through a cold streak and needs to nut up. Sure, he can throw complete games with only two or three hits and that endears him to us, but him having bad games is not unusual. We just have to hope it's over soon.

Man he's been disappointing this season. But then again all the starters have. It's sad when I feel most comfortable in Roark this short into the season.

Gio was bombed in this start and the Oakland start last week. Something is not quite right.

Gio going for an MRI tomorrow.

Quote from: Rotoworld.com
Gio Gonzalez is scheduled to undergo a precautionary MRI on his left arm on Sunday.

Gonzalez was shelled for five earned runs in three innings Saturday in a loss to the Mets and seven runs in 4 1/3 innings last Sunday against the A's. "You know, it’s one of those things, you just got to keep grinding through," Gonzalez said Saturday when asked about his health. "Just trying to find out what it is. Hopefully, something positive comes out of it. Other than that, just try to stay positive." He's had shoulder issues in the past.

If Gio goes on the DL does that mean Treinen or Taylor Jordan will be back in the lineup? I'd rather Det pull his head out of his ass and earn that shot himself but I doubt that would happen.... Ordinarily this would be horrible news but the way Gio has pitched lately I guess the three alternatives of Treinen, Jordan or Det could not be much worse.

Gotta put Stammen in the mix.
