How is "A Walk in the Woods"?  I haven't read any of Brysons work but have wanted to for a while.

Bryson is a funny, funny man.

His masterpiece imho is still The Lost Continent.

The opening sentences: "I come from Des Moines. Somebody had to. When you come from Des Moines you either accept the fact without question and settle down with a local girl named Bobbi and get a job at the Firestone factory and live there forever and ever, or you spend your adolescence moaning about what a dump it is and how you can't wait to get out, and then you settle down with a local girl named Bobbi and get a job at the Firestone factory and live there forever and ever."

If you're feeling old walk in the woods is more relevant - under current is an old guy trying to recapture what he did in his youth (lost continent)

More importantly, how can brooks maintain continuity tor 100 more books. You also have to start Running with the demon. Trust me on that one.

Are there really 100 more books?  That seems like way too many.  Also, I'm pissed because Allanon died and he was my favorite character.  These Ohmsford people are dumb as freak.

Like right now, Brin has decided that she'd going to leave Rone and go alone 'cause she's all freaked out about killing a spider gnome.

Yeah, I don't know how they're still friends if the book is true and the other guy read it.

Read the samples the the Word & Void book 1 and the Genesis book 1.  But Terry Brooks sez Heritage should be next for new readers (other than a short story and a graphic novel I'm not keen on buying), so I got the sample of that now.  All 4 books are available in Kindle edition for $18.99 and that should last me at least 2 weeks, if I end up liking it and buying it.

Word & Void seemed kind of meh from the sample IMO.
