You can counter by saying he garnered enough respect to force the Nats to intentionally walk him last night. 
Manny has really got to stop intentionally walking batters. I can't remember even 1 time where it has helped us. We should never load the bases on purpose considering how much trouble our pitchers have throwing strikes.
