Then, of course there is Harry Caray.  His call of the world's first baseball game (which includes from earlier games): You Tube

He passed away the day after MC'ng the Ted Williams memorial event at Fenway, but I grew up on Ned Martin.  Just the best radio guy there was. Jon Miller replaced him when he and his partner, Jim Woods, were fired in the late 70s for failing to talk up advertiser products during the innings.

Vin Scully  :worship:  :worship:  :worship:  :worship:

I hear John Sterling up here in NY a lot. Never understood the draw. It's hard to listen to him call a game.

Chip Caray was pretty awful during the playoffs on TBS.

No more Steve Phillips on Sunday Night Baseball =  :woop:

Like:

Orestes Destrade

Phil Rizzuto, may he rest in peace. He was so bad that it was fun to listen to him.

Gary Thorne, great voice, good knowledge of the game and when to shut the hell up.

Chuck Thompson

Worst: I don't know. I turn the games off if the announcers get on my nerves.

Good call. Belongs on the smartest athlete list (although he admitted PED's right?)

He also was suddenly fired from XM radio, not sure what happened there.

Not to my knowledge. He wasn't mentioned in the Mitchell Report, if that means anything.

Didn't Destrade & Mark Patrick do a show together?

Yeah, with Buck Martinez, but Destrade left for "personal reasons".  I thought he was terrible, I'm bet Patrick and Martinez were relieved.

My bad it was Fernando Vina who admitted PED's and discussed them on Baseball Tonight, not Destrade.

I find sports radio annoying. I guess that's why I don't listen to it.

Sometimes when they take stupid callers, it gets tedious.

Slowes, Jageler, and Vasgersian when he did games for the Padres are my favorites.  Dibble's a fun color commentator.

Worst: Jim Hunter of the BlO's. :hang:

I buy the mlb.tv package just to watch Dodgers games to listen to Vin Scully.  That's how much I like the guy.  I don't like the O's announcers.
