From all reports it is fine.  What's surprising is the stolen bases.

It's surprising given his ankle issues.  I'm impressed with his performance.  He hasn't had much pro experience at all.

Rolling ankles doesn't affect straight line speed very much. Its side to side (rounding the bases) where he would have issues.

1 for 1 with two walks

If this guy has a good spring, could get very interesting. Also makes me wonder how valuable Espinosa and/or Morse really are ...

Your knowledge of his ankle injuries is comical. He has no issues "rounding the bases". And then you say rolling ankles doesn't affect straight line speed but yet you say he cannot play the outfield where straight line speed is imperative and no side to side movement occurs.

Then why did he injur his ankle running the bases?

Good to see that Rendon is getting healthy enough to really get back to work.  The stolen bases are at least a good sign at this early stage.  It is always great to have upper level talent competing for time at one position.  I'm happy about a Zimmerman / Rendon overlapping issue at third base.

From MASNSports:

Quote
Taxi squad member Jason Martinson hit a ball so hard and so far in his first game in Arizona last month that pitching coach Mark Grater said the umpires did not know how to rule it and called it foul. But it definitely was close to being fair.

There was no doubt Thursday for Martinson, who crushed a two-run shot in the eighth as a pinch hitter, capping off a 7-3 regular season finale win for the Salt River Rafters over Surprise.

Designated hitter Brian Goodwin had a double and run scored, while third baseman Anthony Rendon went 1-for-1 with two walks and two runs scored. Rendon also stole two bases. Cole Kimball allowed one run on four hits over two innings, with one walk and two strikeouts.

The Rafters finished the regular season 17-13, the best record in the East Division, and now face the Peoria Javelinas for the AFL crown Saturday at 3:10 p.m. on MLB Network.

Salt River's Ryan Perry gets the start.

I would expect Nationals prospects Goodwin, Rendon and Matt Skole to start Saturday in the one-game, winner-take-all final, and Grater said they should have "10 pitchers available." With Perry starting, there's still a good chance to see Aaron Barrett, Paul Demny and possibly Kimball in a specialist role. And then some late-inning Martinson heroics to put icing on the cake? Makes for a good Saturday.

For those interested, the AFL championship game is on now on MLB Network. Goodwin, Skole, and Rendon are 1,3,4 in the lineup. Perry has stunk it up so far. After being the 3 outs in the 1st inning. Goodwin just singled on a swinging bunt.

The biggest thing that's stuck out for Nats players has been Skole's defense at first. He made a great pick and a couple of nice diving plays.

Promptly gets two groundball outs to get out of a jam. 92 mph sinkers.

Skole looking good with the glove.  If he can hit like a 1B, he may make it to Washington at some point.

Goodwin with a triple to right center, off a lefty.
They seem to think he left third early on a sac fly. If he did it was close.

Rendon with a nice shot to the gap for a triple. Billy Hamilton slammed in to the wall and almost came up with it.
