The team was 4-2 with a true freshman at qb before losing what? 3 qbs in 2 weeks? And you act as though he's just totally freaked the season? I just don't get it. The guy can't win for losing. The recruiting is already at least as good as it was under Fridge and it actually appears to be a disciplined team. Gasp! The horror! Yeah, a lot of players jumped ship, well buh bye! But hey, how's things going out at Washington State?

Edit:

Oh, and we've put out such a quality product over the years... a couple really good seasons yes, and a couple real turds too. Let's not pretend the Fridge was "the 'ol Ballcoach" or something. Edsel is in his second year and the team was devestated by injuries this year. He deserves at worst a mulligan for this year. Lets see what they do next year with more talent and perhaps a set of healthy qbs before we toss him on the trash heap.
The Edsel hate is irrational. I liked Fridge and was pissed to see him go fwiw.

omg there were other candidates than edsall and leach.  and who's to say leach doesn't have success here?

i'm not rooting for maryland football to fair.  but edsall is failing.

i've already said injuries suck,  but doesn't take away they lost to UConn and BC and fell apart to NC State.

i'm allowed to have an opinion and the 6-17 record (soon to be 6-18) backs me up that edsall isn't getting the job done.

i'm fine with terps moving to big ten.  hoops will be fine.  edsall will just get blasted in front of full stadiums rather than half-empty ones (unless this program finally turns it around).

It backs up nothing! How can you call this year anything other than a disaster on the injury front. How can you be expected to compete when you're on your 5th qb? Sure the UConn/BC losses were horrible, no doubt about it but you're also forgetting how young this team is. The defense has been much better than last years, but when your offense is basically built on fresh/soph players, you can't expect immediate results. Rome wasn't built in a day. You think it's possible that Turgeon and Edsel were brought in for a reason other than imediate results? Perhaps, especially with the football program, the level of discipline was non existant and something needed done about that before crap potentially got ugly? I have no answer for that personally because I'm not privy to insider talk, but the fact of the matter was the coaching changes Edsel made on defense and adding Lockesly looked excellent and the team showed a lot of improvement over last season prior to having to start a LB at qb. But hey, that doesn't prop up your agenda does it?

And you continue to pretend like this years team appeared to be far better than last years until... gasp 4 qbs went down to season ending injuries. WHAT THE freak DOES IT TAKE TO GET YOU TO REALIZE THAT THIS SEASON DESERVES A MULLIGAN? A coach can only do so much with a LB at qb. But whatever, keep beating that dead horse. It must make you feel good.

Oh, and a mod might want to move this to the football thread. Sorry for derailing it.

Just like in most sports conferences, the talk always ends up being about football. ;)

But I will respect your rules.

that's why the ACC became a craphole.  For some reason they ruined a perfectly great college hoops product to "improve" the football product.

the 9-team ACC league was fine as is.  the basketball became watered down and the football isn't anywhere as good as they thought it would be.

don't get me wrong ... cuse/pitt/notre dame will help with hoops, but it wouldn't surprise me if more ACC teams followed MD and left.

HUGE win for UVA at Wisconsin. First time a team has beaten Wisconsin at home in November since 2001-2002.

great win for UVA last night.

Wish UVA/Mason could replay that game now that Jontel Evans is at least 50% healthy.
