Don't have time but I seem to remember myself, N2P, and others ripping St. Claire for years.

I will vouch for N2P. he's hated St. Claire for years.

ASSCLOWN is full of crap though.

But sometimes historical posts get quoted and they seem just a little different than the first time, know what I mean?    :?

I distinctly remember N2P actively hating on St. Claire constantly.  especially in game threads.

There's a setting that shows the last edit time of a post underneath of the post, but I've always left it disabled because I felt it was unsightly.  Such changes are logged regardless, however.  I wonder how many of AC's posts would have "lasted edit on..." tags if I enabled that setting? :icon_mrgreen:

I remember this too, but I don't think he started until 2007, which doesn't completely blow Tom's insinuation.

Everybody loved the Saint in 2005, when he gave Hector Carrasco the gift of a changeup and Hector parlayed that into a large contract with the Dodgers the next season.  The emergence of Patterson, resurgence of Loaiza (who also cashed in big time), and lots of folks thought highly of St. Claire.

Saint was given a reprieve by the lack of talent. How can you blame the pitching coach for Mike Bacsik or Daniel Cabrera? I still don't have any idea whether he's any good at helping pitchers pitch better but his game planning is terrible.

Sidenote:  Fredi & St Claire really do not get along, with Fredi all but outright public accusing St Claire of incompetence.

Zuckerman on the subject:

Quote
...Florida manager Fredi Gonzalez knew St. Claire a bit after crossing paths with him over the last few years. What he didn't know first-hand, Gonzalez could see with his own eyes: St. Claire was one of the hardest-working coaches he'd ever seen.

"You'd always see him working with the pitchers," Gonzalez said. "You always liked the way he worked on the field. You never know what happens behind closed doors, you're not privy to that. But all his pitchers seemed like they were prepared, had a good gameplan. You know, you see coaches from the other side and who works and who doesn't work. He's one of those guys who works.

"And now that I've been with him more than a month ... he's detailed, organized. We leave there at 6:30 at night, and he's in the video room. You get there in the morning, and he's in that video room with a pitcher. He is a very prepared pitching coach."

The Marlins rotation looks like it is going to be:

Johnson
Nolasco
Sanchez
VandenHurk
Hayden Penn - seriously .

Sean West has been sent down, Miller is going to be a mid-relief  designated BB guy, and is looks like Volstad is going to be sent down.

The Marlins may have their worst pitching staff in their history.

100% options based. Cheap bastards

Sadly, until Strasburg joins to the rotation, the Nats five doesn't even come close to touching that one.

And Wang. And Detwiler. And Thompson. And so on.

Now he say the pitchers need to throw strikes and he doesn't care where the elbow is.  He's putting all the BB on St Claire's head, as well as faulting him for adding sliders to everyone's repertoire regardless of whatever else they have/need.

I'm sorry that you had to put up with him as a Nats fan and now you still have to deal with him as a Marlins fan.

Also, St Claire failed to inform any of the pitching staff about the new balk rules, resulting in Johnson getting called twice today.

The one that got JJ:  your hand can go to your mouth off the mound, but you must wipe your hand before stepping onto the mound or touching the ball.  Previous rule was that the pitcher's hand could not go to his mouth while on the mound, no mention of wiping it off.  Apparently, MLB sent out an 18-page memorandum on new balk rules, and St Claire sat on it.

Really? That was always the rule when I played in HS and college.
