The directors of Captain America (the Russo brothers) made a ton of episodes of Arrested Development.

Star Wars fans should be encouraged with what Disney has done with the Marvel franchise.

Love me some Angels in the Outfield.    If you wanna see Forbes Field (Pirates), this is it.

Thanks nats2.

Captain America was quite good. Marvel has handled their archetype character in Captain America so much better than DC has handled theirs in Superman.

Missus wants to see that on Monday (movie date day  :)).    I'm not much into super hero movies but I am a Samuel L. Jackson fan.    So, it's on.

Mud was outstanding. Surprised it didn't get nominated for Best Picture.

You have to see the first one to understand what is happening.

It doesn't matter if I understand.   It's all about her.   ;)    If mom's happy.    We're happy.

UPDATE:    So I'm tellin' the missus about your comment.    She says, "Oh, we have it on DVD.    You can watch it before we go tomorrow."

UPDATE:    I have seen Captain America.    Will see Part II tomorrow.

The first one is pretty good. Not as good as the second. Hugo Weaving hamming it up like a boss as Red Skull is a lot of fun.

Saw Captain America today.   It was pretty good.    Definitely seeing Part I helped.    One thing I noticed was the previews were not directed to my demographic.   :P

Do they even release movies targeted at your demographic?

Heard it's the anti-moneyball, making fun of stat geeks.

White House Down is a fascinating experience. The tone is really odd in that it has Roland Emmerich's standard semi-serious atmosphere with a healthy dose of goofiness, sentimentality, cheesiness, and out of place joking in it. The CGI is abysmal and the greenscreens are even worse, but beyond the technical bits, it makes no sense. The villains are made up of white supremacist mercenaries working for a guy who thinks that nuking Iran will stabilize the world forever or something, who is in turn working with a guy who is working for the military industrial complex to keep wars going because Jamie Foxx's Obama impersonation has brokered a deal for Middle East peace or something and they don't like that. So some sort of liberal nightmare scenario involving all manner of right-wing nuts. I don't know. It's all really muddled and unclear. It kinda sucked, but it was also pretty funny and entertaining. If I had to pick, I'd choose Olympus Has Fallen as the better of the two White House invasion movies of 2013, but White House Down is watchable too. If you didn't like Emmerich's other movies though, stay away, because his style is very noticeable throughout.
