not a fair comparison, a single starting pitcher is less critical to the overall success of the team than a QB.   The stats show you need a top 10 QB to win a SB (with a few rare exceptions).

Last 5 SBs:
12: Eli vs. Brady
11: Rodgers vs. Ben
10: Brees vs. Peyton
09: Ben vs. Warner
08: Eli vs. Brady

Yeah, there is the occasional Grossman that gets to the big game, but those are few and far between.



I'm not the one who brought him up. I just think the haul is ridiculous. Even in your list you have a 7th rounder, a number 11 over all, a number 24 over all, and a second rounder vs. the two mannings as top picks.
