Messenger staying in the game.  He's doing MUCH better than last year.  But, last year, on pitches 16-30 his ERA was over 9.  He's at 13 pitches entering the 9th.

But we are the awful hitting Nats.. And Belliard grounds a hanging curve ball right to Hanley for the DP.

Thanks man...although this week I'm a Hokie, I guess we all are.   :-[
I'm wearing a VT cap to the game tomorrow.  I was inspired by the Nats tribute and ran out to Lids.    I got the next-to-last one.

Now that is a fitting end to the game.  Zimmerman kills it but right to the fielder.  We sure are good at hitting hard hit balls right to the other team.  As great as last night's game was, this game was nearly equally as poor.  Hopefully we can pick up our first series win tom... Oh, never mind, Jerome is pitching.   >:(

Thank goodness for the quick finish. This game was all about getting a couple of young pitchers some learning time and not burning the rest of the bullpen. Chico and Wagner had to take this for the team. Tomorrow's another day.
