Just got home fromt the game a little while ago. First of all, this was only the second time instant replay has been used at National's Park, correct? I seem to remember they reviewed a call one other time, to one of the few games I didn't go to last year as it was a day game. On that note, anyone by some bizarre chance know of the top of their heads how many games the National's have had total, road and home, where there was a review? Best I can guess on vague recollections is four or five.

Secondly, that was wild to see five infielders. Such a rarity, and everytime you looked to the infield the whole thing just seemed "off." Bizarre call on the Met's part, but it didn't hurt them nor did it help them, so the questionable decision making involved in such a call was rendered moot fairly quickly by the Z-Man.

Finally, not to side with the other team, but MLB screwed the Mets. Really, really screwed the Mets. Having one game, a night game no less, in Puerto Rico, then having to fly to DC? Even if it hadn't been a long game, and a rain delay to boot, that's unacceptable. A night game in PR followed by a night game in DC was blatantly unfair to the Mets. Having the Marlins play the next night would have been slightly different as Florida's a hell of a lot closer than DC, and it would have been a home game. Hearing they didn't get in at Dulles until after 7am was ridiculous. Of course since the move to PR wasn't announced until after the schedule was announced (I'm fairly sure that's correct.) MLB has an "excuse." Games in Puerto Rico should never happen again unless both teams get an off-day the next day, or at the very least the PR game is a day game. MLB had absolutely no excuse for having last nights game not start at least a couple of hours earlier, which certainly would have alleviated an already bad situation for the Mets. You could tell the entire team was beat by looking at their faces/hustle between innings.

I didn't see Strasburg celebrating with the team.  :?

There he is, upper left center, between Adam Dunn and Willie Harris getting humped.

Just from that photo he looks like someone killed his dog with his head down/body language. Probably thinking to himself "why didn't this happen on Monday?" Joking, of course, but in that snapshot at that angle he stands apart.

He's a rookie.   He hasn't earned the right to celebrate yet  :D

I think he's looking down to make sure he doesn't step on Rick Eckstein. Why is Tyler Walker in a uni?

Hey lookie here, pitching and defense. Defense and pitching. It works just as well in the 21st century as it did in the 19th century. Catch the ball, throw the ball it's really pretty freaking simple.

I was just thinking about this yesterday, teams that can throw, catch, and pitch well rarely beat themselves (such as the Padres). I'd love for us to continue to build around Strasburg with some more young arms and look for some very good defensive position players.

Apparently not for the Nationals, considering the spectacular response elicited by them doing it just once

I know  :icon_frown: My comment was directed at the team and not at the board members.

Games shouldn't be played in Puerto Rico period.  The field is not maintained like a U.S. major league stadium and could cause an injury to a player according to our announcers last night.

Olsen still sits on the bench with his uniform on.

You mean that if you're on the DL, you can't sit in the dugout and support your teammates?   Why not?

You're only allowed so many guys in the dugout at one time.

He should be in the bullpen, were he is when he isn't on the DL. He could be Matt Capps assistant water boy.
