Purke had trouble throwing strikes. Said yest was still working on regaining his sharpness after such a long layoff. Hit 92once Mostly 89-91

Purke    0.1    5    7    7    1    0    1    30.86

On the bright side, Harper went 1-4, with 1 BB, raising his average to .214.  Furthermore, Lehman only allowed 5 ER in 1.1 innings.  :mg:
Also, Purke's AFL ERA is likely to decrease after his next outing.  (And Martin pitched 1.2 scoreless innings).

How do you pronounce that reliever's name?  Is it like "lemon," as in he sucks lemons, or LeeMon, as in morally and financially bankrupt?

He'd make an excellent 2-hole hitter.

Norris was 2-2 with a double and a homer.  Plus a walk.

Walters 0-4 with 2 k's.

Lehman - 1 inning, 2 er's.  Takes the loss and gets a blown save.

Could Norris be one of those guys that hits better as the pitching gets better? He seems to have  his personal strike zone down pat.

Norris is looking good.  Lehman is looking, uh ... consistent.

We can hope, but he's gotten worse as he's climbed the minor league latter. .286 at A-, .235 at A+, and .210 and AA. He has walked and hit for power at each level, but his ability to get hits has gotten worse.

Next year is a big deal for him.

Just a heads up, Norris did hit .278 last year in the AFL, which was decent. He's doing better right now, but he did do pretty well last year at this level, so I would expect that again.

Harper 2-for-3 with a 3-run homer.  BA is at 244.

Norris is also 2-for-3.  BA is at 361.  He also caught a runner stealing.

Rafael Martin 2 IP 1H 1K  ERA 1.50

Zach Walters 0-for-2 BA is 171.

The game is headed to the top of the 7th with Mesa leading 8-3.

While I still don't think we'll see Harper before September, he's going to make things interesting next spring.

You betcha. Going to Viera just to see him.

My guess is he gets called up before September. He needs to keep it going in AFL, kick some butt in Viera, and keep it going at Harrisburg (where I think he will start.)

I predict the Bryce Harper Era starts next June.
