Sometimes the SI cover jinx can be delayed-action - Strasburg had to go in for Tommy John surgery later in the season when he was on the cover (I still have that issue).

And Cal Ripken Jr is an enemy of DC baseball - he works for Peter Angelos (owner of minor-league affiliate club in Aberdeen). He deserves everything bad that happens to him.

I thought the jinx was only relevant to the issue just before the start of a championship game. Like the week before the Super Bowl or the issue before a World Series starts. IN more recent years the jinx that is more relevant it the Madden Football video game box cover.
