I just thought the same exact thing to myself.  Plus, I think he was actually safe, but whatever.

That's when he should have plowed the catcher.
The ump was calling him out at home even if they would have thrown to first base!

Well, if Nyjer thought he was safe, he would have charged the umpire.

6th   I Desmond doubled to deep left, J Lannan scored, N Morgan to third.

Nationals 8
Pirates     1

Deep insight: baseball is a lot more fun when the Nats have an 8 - 1 lead.

Again? Was Pudge a known juicer?

I don't think he was ever caught but I recall the offseason when they said there would be PED testing he claimed he would lose a ton of weight in the offseason to work on his speed. He clearly got off the juice and became a different player at the plate.

I should know these things, but I took a 30 year respite from baseball until the Nationals came to town.

This is fun.  Our players are actually hitting the ball.  It's like everything that touches our player's bats are becoming hits.

Espinosa 2010 > Desmond 2009 + Desmond 2010  ?

Quality Start for Lannan.

He's back.

I'm thinking: Marquis maybe, Lannan, probably, Olsen, probably not.

If two of the three can pitch decently next year, plus Jordan Zimmerman, then that's most of a rotation.

If Maya turns out to be something special, that's four. I still think Stammen deserves to start based on his last four or fiove starts. Add L Hernandez, and that's seven starters, and only three of them are "ifs". Better than the Nats have had in a long time.

Give me a 1B who can hit HR, somebody like Adam Dunn (ahem!!!), and add a corner OF, and this team could be fun next year.

(SQRT(Espinosa 2011) + SQRT(Desmond 2011))^2 > Guzman 2005-2009 ?

Too much math.  School hasn't even started for me, yet!

Hmm...Austin Kearns is a free agent at the end of the year.  ;)

Well, that's a better equation than you'll get to solve in school anyway. :)
