Matt Belisle (4-3, 4.58 ERA) will hope to shut down Washington's bats in the finale. He allowed four runs and 10 hits in 5 2-3 innings, but still picked up the win Saturday at Cleveland.

Belisle, who won for the first time in four starts, was coming off his worst start of the season, a 7-1 loss in San Diego in which he allowed seven runs and 10 hits in five innings.

Washington will counter with Mike Bacsik (0-0, 0.00), who threw six scoreless innings Saturday in his first appearance in the majors since 2004 in Washington's 3-2, 11-inning loss to Baltimore. He was called up from Triple-A Columbus to replace injured starter Jason Bergmann  .

"He couldn't have written it better," manager Manny Acta told the Nationals' team Web site. "He did an outstanding job. He gave us what we wanted. You have to give it up to the kid. He pitched a great game."

We are currently in a tie for the worst record in baseball with the Reds and Rangers.

But the tide is shifting. Winning at a .750 clip, not that it will happen forever,  will bring us back to being a .500 team. And I'd be satisfied with that by the end of the season.

Belisle - doesn't he look a lot like Leave It To Beaver?

Let's hope Ward is hard on the Beaver tonight. (The resemblance is striking.)

Question: (for now or later) Can anyone tell me if a no-hitter has ever been pitched at GABP?

Hard to believe that this kid is probably worrying about his weight and watching his prostate like a hawk. I know this because he's right around my age...

a) He's only going to turn 27 in two weeks.
b) What the heck is up with your prostate at 26? (Don't feel obliged to answer)

There has not been a no-hitter there yet, according to a web site of GABP "firsts."  They do list a two-pitcher shutout in 2003.

HAHAHAHA This park is comedy relief.  If I was a pitcher and traded to Cincinatti I would just commit suicide.

No.  To give you an idea of how that will never happen, just last year was the first game ever where both teams hadn't scored through nine innings.

I don't blame the Nats offensive success on the park, becasue we haven;t had this same type of sucess in years past at Minte Maid PArk, Citizens, or Coor field.

The Nats are just hitting well. They would be putting up pts at RFK with this hitting too
