that could just be Frank.

the only way JimBo can guarantee that Guzman won't get any playing time is to get rid of him.

and we don't have the personnel to afford it.  contrary to what everyone believes, Jamey Carroll is NOT a suitable long-term solution at SS.  He's a Utility Player.

JimBo needs to get another shortstop before he can permanently get rid of Guzman.

No sale...

Why is anyone considering a long term solution?  We just need to get through this season.  We can address the "long term solution" after the season is over.

Carroll is more than adequate for what we need this season.  And bring up anybody from New Orleans, platooning with Carroll, would be better than what Guzman is doing to us.

two things:

1) it's not easy for a slumping team to bust out of it when in the span of week, you face oswalt, clemens, smoltz, and hudson. so it's not like we're sucking against all these pitchers we should be mashing. granted, we haven't hit against crappy pitchers either, but we've faced some amazing pitchers in the past week.

2) as much as we would like to think we can easily get rid of guzman, he is signed to a 4 year deal, and until we get an owner, i doubt we have the latitude to DFA a player signed to guzman's contract.

You know, sometimes I think they just don't like standing.

There are sometimes we're up at bat and it seems as if being at the plate is the last place in the world we want to be.  I don't think we've gotten the concept of making a pitcher work to get us out.

If he's willing to eat half of Guzman's contract while he's with the Devil Rays, with the right players, he could get Lugo. At $2 million a year and with all his AL experience Guzman wouldn't be as bad a trade for them as that, that is if they get something else along with him. I'm not sure if someone like Brandon Watson would be enough to get them to take Guzman and give us Lugo.

We can limit his play, though.  He doesn't have to start almost every damn game!

Watching Vidro cower into the fetal position after he lost that ball in the lights just made me cringe in embarassment.

Sometimes all it takes to get out of a slump is for one player to do something that gets the guys minds off their slumping bats. Maybe one of the players should drop his pants to adjust his supporter while in the batting circle... It would at least distract the pitcher for a sec...
