Gameday Thread: Nationals @ Braves, Game 2
« Topic Start: July 27, 2005, 05:40:56 PM »
Washington Nationals (55-45) @ Atlanta Braves (56-44)

Date: 7/27/2005
Time: 7:05 pm EDT
Location: Turner Field, Atlanta, GA
TV: MASN, MLBEI, MLB.TV
Radio: Z104-FM, XM Radio,MLB Gameday Audio

Probable Pitchers:

Washington:

Esteban Loaiza, RHP (6-6, 3.56)

Scouting Report:
Just when Loaiza finally began to receive some run support, his team embarked on its worst offensive slide of the season. Loaiza allowed three runs -- one unearned -- in seven innings Thursday against Houston, but the Nationals could only muster a pair of ninth-inning runs and lost, 3-2. It was Loaiza's first loss since June 13 in Los Angeles.

Atlanta:

Tim Hudson, RHP (7-5, 3.59)

Hudson threw a quality start in his second outing since missing a month with a strained oblique muscle, but received a no-decision in a game the Braves eventually lost in extra innings. "I wasn't nearly as sharp as I would like to be, but i still felt pretty good out there, " said Hudson.

Loaiza is hitting .225 for the season, which is better than the Nationals whole team has hit the last week.  He has a double and 2 RBIs.  Maybe he should move up in the batting order.  :?

Time to break out your emergency "terrorism" radio.  A power-outage during a Nats game qualifies for an emergency all in it's own!

Awright...I'm putting my foot down and demanding an explanation of the in-joke.  C'mon - what am I missing here

edit: Incidentally, I feel I'm courting disaster for my Nats by posting here during the game...every time I do this it seems we lose.

Oh wait.  We've been losing for the whole godforsaken month.  (Repeat to self: correlation does not imply causation, correlation does not imply causation, correlation does not imply causation...)

Tom McCraw just embarassed himself on the pregame show.  Would it hurt Frank's golf game TOO much to fire his ass?

He just opened his mouth.  That's embarassing enough...but basically he said we've had enough wins during the beginning of the season to allow us to still be in contention today.  And that he thinks we had "good solid hits" against Smoltz last night even though they were outs.  And he anticipates the bats waking up and turning this thing around.   :?

He's always been a class act...most of the Braves are class act.  It's the fans that are an embarassment.

Gosh Sens 2k5, that sounds reasonable brother (what McCraw said).  Am I missing something?  Did you leave something out?  Is it how he said it?
