Detwiler looks way better than I thought he would. I thought the surgery would ruin him, but he looks pretty damn good.

I've maintained that I think he can be a top half of the rotation starter. I thought he was going to have a breakout year this year until he went down with the hip injury.

He's got the stuff, he just needs to control it.

Not bad for a non-All Star, huh?

He put pretty good wood on the ball, no doubt.

The scouting report when he was drafted is that he would be majors-ready #3 starter. Starting to see that.

He should have been allowed to go another inning or so, at least finish the 6th.

I went looking through Philly fan message boards.

My favorite post so far....

Of all the injuries this year, why couldn't one have hit Brad Lidge?

Lidge is a bit of a mental case, too.  One confidence shattering blow like Zimm's tonight, giving him his first loss, is enough to mess him up for quite a while.    :)

If Zmnn comes back as well as it appears he will, and Maya is a serviceable number four, the Nats rotation could possibly be filthy next year.

Hopefully we won't face him tomorrow.  We'll be so far ahead we'll be facing the mop up crew.

It's amazing that the Phillies didn't do more to bolster their pen.  If you survive their top 3 starters, Contreas, Madson and Lidge aren't very intimidating.

I think that the Nats have not swept the Phillies since they've moved to DC. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

It's a mental game with John Lannan? What a shock.

Poor kid is a head case.

he has good stuff.  he went back to his old mechanics which makes him comfortable, but sometime he flies open too much - hence the wildness (and sometimes he'll leave a pitch up or two).  but again if he's comfortable with doing it and can pitch more effectively, by all means do your thing Det.

I truly think he's a 3-4.

Lannan isn't a head case.

And you know what, we've already won the series, anything extra would be extra chocolate syrup on the sundae.

Maybe we see the old John Lannan (that most of us liked).  Maybe not.  Hoping we do.

Consider Nats Xtra just said his whole problem is mental, yeah, I'd call that a head case.

I wish the guy the best though. Team needs him badly.

Awesome. What a player.  I was in my bar of choice, talking to one of the managers, discussing his "pleasure" in serving about 20 of those philly fans this PM, and just praying for a sweep.  Gradually, as the ATL game, NYY-Rays, etc... all ended, everyone focused on the Nats game.  when Zimm hit the bomb, there was a good size shout and many shots ordered.  What a bomb.

We have a nice young college intern this summer. She's been crowing (Adam Crowing?) since Strasburg got hurt. Keeps asking me how the Nats are doing. Ah...wait till Monday!!!
