Maybe I'm doing what I said one shouldn't do: base a lot of my claims on a small size... but still - he's been injured in 2009, 2010 (didn't miss the year), a shoulder problem in 2011, and was out for a bit in 2012. He still played during some of this time but it just doesn't sit well with me that this young of a guy who hasn't played at all in the majors, is having an injury a year. I'm glad he came back this year and was able to play the rest of the year and AFL. It's a good sign so far.

Injured the last game of 2009
Injured during the WBC in 2010
Shoulder issues in 2011, but was still able to hit well
Ankle injury 2012 - Missed 2 and a half months. A little more than Zimmerman last year.

I'd love for Zimmerman to re-find his 2009 form, but the last three seasons have shown his body isn't holding up to it. He can start next season at third. But if he again struggles to stay healthy, it's time to start looking for a replacement there. Zim's bat, when healthy, is good enough for first base.

Again, though, Rendon was lucky enough that there was a DH system.

It's not lucky if everyone has that advantage.

It's is if you're comparing time lost to injury to a player in a league without a dh

Rizzo's going to pull off another big move this offseason.  Last year it was gio and the year before that it was werth.  Just gotta wait and see what he'll do this time.

Whatever it is, "rival execs" are sure to hate it!

Why aren't we hearing more about surgeries and procedures?  There were a number of players, at the end of the season, playing with injuries that needed them.

I hope they're being proactive.

This year I'm not going to give a single freak about rumors. They're all false until it happens. I can't get my hopes up!

Yankees have a team option on Granderson for 2013.  Does he become the sacrificial lamb and do they not pick up that option?  And if so - any interest?  Lefty power bat that plays CF (though not very well according to UZR).

I actually wouldn't be surprised if the yanks cut ties with Grandy this offseason.  With his apparent struggles and them needing to keep their payroll relatively down they might just decide to not exercise his option.  I'd love to pick him up.  Here's why:

Looks like his down year avg. wise was due entirely to BABIP.

Here is his BABIP and AVG. for each of the past 3 years:
2010         .277         .247
2011         .295         .262
2012         .260         .232

This year his BABIP was a career-low .260 which is a full .045 points below his career line.  In 2011, his BABIP was .035 points higher than in 2012 and his AVG. was .030 points higher than in 2012.  In 2010, his BABIP was .017 points higher than in 2012 and in turn, his AVG. in 2010 was .015 points higher than in 2012.  He might have just turned into a low average high power guy as a Yankee, but the stats indicate that there is a strong chance that he is merely unlucky.  Just my two cents.

They won't just not exercise his option. They know they can get value for him and I'd be shocked if he was just let go.

Let's get him. Danny and Curtis can have a strikeout contest.

Been away for a few days, but man what is going on in here?  Why would you move Zimmerman to first when he would be a barely league average bat at 1st?  Especially if you have someone like T-Mo who is still young enough and has the potential of being a league plus bat with home runs, and may also provide fairly good average with acceptable amounts (read high) of strikeouts?

Yes Zimmerman has issues throwing the ball.  Remember that in 2010 he was throwing to Dunn all season.  I understand that if Zimm throws a bad ball that is called as an error because it pulls a guy of the bag or it's over his head or low, but honestly how much of Adam Dunn-ness gets factored in here?  Zimm also gets to more balls than your league average 3B, and he and Wright are the only guys that really make those insane plays.  Wright just throws better.

Cliff notes version here is until you know that Rendon provides better defense and a MLB ready bat at 3B, there is no point to move Zimmerman over there when you have options internally with Moore or Morse.  My bet is on trying to resign LaRoche and trading Morse.  If you don't sign LaRoche, I'd still trade LaRoche and play Moore everyday at 1st.

Team needs pitching.  Get more of that.

Whenever I read a post that tries to attack Ryan Zimmerman I want to break things.

Ryan Zimmerman is arguably the best thing to ever happen to the Washington Nationals. He'll played 3B and bat #3 as long as he damn well pleases and we need to go to the ballpark everyday thankful to watch him play the game of baseball.

Zimmerman stayed with the Nats when we sucked. The Nats rewarded him with good contracts. If in the future as he grows older, the Nats better treat him perfectly. If he is ever shoved out of the door in a way that leaves a bad taste, I'll burn my Nationals gear and pray that Nationals Park by some act of God crumbles and instead of building a new one the team moves back to Montreal.

I was supporting Zimmerman when he sucked earlier this season and he paid us back big time. He always does. He's the Captain of this franchise.
Bump.

FP would totally rag on you NATITUDE hatin' f00ls
